Adu Floor Plans 400 Sq Ft – Now you might be wondering how you can earn more money. Whether you’ve just been laid off or are worried about the coming recession, most of us are reevaluating our finances.
So here’s an idea, spend some money to get more money on a property you already own…build an ADU!

ADU= Additional Dwelling Unit. Some may know them as Granny flats. Here guests (or tenant) can sleep. ADU variations include junior companion units or guest houses.
Features & Floorplans
So, most likely, licensing will be child’s play, and finding a renter will not be difficult. But how much will it cost to build an ADU? Of course, this depends on whether you need new flooring, new exterior walls, new plumbing and other utilities. If you can find free space in your home or garage, this is a no-brainer. If you need to build a new structure, it pays to do a little research.
Fortunately, most jurisdictions have created simple guides to ADU permits. Take a look, look up the codes that apply to your property, and then check park rates with local builders.
Also, with the new code changes, there are companies that specialize in processing permits for ADUs only.

This Maine client built a new 720 SF (67 sq m) two bedroom cabin to replace an old one.
This client from San Diego is in the process of converting their 240 SF (22 sq m) single car garage into an ADU Studio.
This San Jose client is in the process of converting a small 175 SF (16.25 square meter) portion of their two-car garage into an ADU Studio, but still has room for two cars.

This is a very space efficient plan I created for an upcoming development project. 24 m2 (260 SF) studio, 31.5 m2 (340 SF) studio, 27 m2 (290 SF) studio and 550 SF (51 m2) one bedroom.
This client from San Diego wanted to build a 460 SF (43 m2) cottage in the bottom of their garden. Includes ADU space and a place for her yoga/meditation practice.
This Maine couple built a 475 SF (44 m2) one-bedroom Granny Flat in the attic of their new two-car garage.

I saw 👀 this art installation 🗽 during my trip to New York (hard to believe it was only two weeks before the pandemic madness). This installation is on one of the docks in Brooklyn. It doesn’t seem so unusual until you see the 🔎 tiny people in the center of the photo. 😲 This is huge!

In times of uncertainty, let’s stand together! 🤝 Our monthly Building Science + Beers 🏗🍻 meeting went virtual last week and wow 🤯 we had quite a crowd. ADU, accessory dwelling unit, property, rental property, rental, long term rental, efficient space, small space, permit, floor plan, cabin, studio, conversion, granny flat, DIY, junior companion, retirement March 2019, state of California is announced the availability of funding for the Senate Planning Grants Bill 2 (SB2) program. Senate Bill 2 was part of a package of 15 housing bills aimed at addressing the state’s housing shortage and high housing costs. Specifically, it establishes a permanent source of funding aimed at increasing the affordable housing stock in California. The minimum grant awarded to Del Mar through the SB2 grant program was $50,000 and the maximum was $160,000.
To develop the city’s grant application, staff analyzed the city’s priority housing projects received under the 22 in 5 (How to Build 22 Affordable Housing in 5 Years) work program to determine eligible grant activities. After reviewing the projects under the 22 5 work program, the staff and housing liaison officers confirmed that the three projects were eligible for funding according to the standards set by the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). One of the selected projects aimed to stimulate ADUs by developing three ADU plans that would be licensed to the municipality for public use (plan only, no construction drawings).
