Benjamin Moore Aura Color Chart – A few years ago, I shared the most popular Benjamin Moore paint colors according to Benjamin Moore. It’s time to update our best selling color list and I’m excited to finally update today’s color list!
For the past year, Benjamin Moore has stopped updating the best-selling paint colors section of their website, which is really annoying. However, this past week, they finally updated it (probably for the new year) and I’m always excited to see what Benjamin Moore’s best selling and most popular colors are.
Benjamin Moore Aura Color Chart
While I’m not one to pick paint colors just because they’re popular or trendy, I always stick to the best-selling colors because a paint color has to be beautiful and reliable to beat the hundreds of colors out there. Benjamin Moore color. This is one of the tools I use when discovering new colors on my radar for my clients and my blog.
Interior And Exterior Paint By Benjamin Moore — Towne Paint & Flooring
Benjamin Moore has the most beautiful shade of blue of any paint company. Smoke and Hell Navy are two star colors that have been on the best seller list for years because these colors are simply stunning and look consistently good in different lighting conditions.
Benjamin Moore Smoke is a very airy spacey pale blue. We used Smoke for a recent client project in a kid’s room and it was great.
Van Cortlandt Blue has been a popular blue for years and I especially love it on the cabinets! In fact, Stephanie Gamble Interiors recently painted these laundry cabinets Van Cortlandt Blue, a gorgeous color in this space.
I would venture to guess that Hell Navy is the most popular Benjamin Moore Blue. Hell Navy is the perfect dark navy and a favorite among designers, builders and homeowners because it always looks great! Nothing even comes close to comparing to Hell Navy in my opinion.
Potters Wheel 1294
I was not surprised to see the shades of gray on Benjamin Moore’s best seller list as they are the best and trusted shades of Benjamin Moore Grey. Collingwood is a new color for me, but I fell in love with the color a few months ago when I visited this modern French home during the Salt Lake City Parade of Homes.
Collingwood is slightly warmer than traditional balanced warm ash. No yellow, little heat. I personally love it, but keep in mind that this house is flooded with natural light!
Stonington has become very popular over the years, but this is the first time I’ve seen it on the bestseller list. Stonington is a deeper (more pigmented) warmer gray than Gray Owl. However, it has a subtle gray color and can be very cool in certain lighting conditions.
It is not surprising to see the Gray Owl and Edgecombe Gray on this list. These are two stellar warm gray shades that have been best sellers for years because they are so beautiful and reliable.
Benjamin Moore Paint & Stain
Edgecombe Gray is a very light warm gray that I love and use a lot. In fact, I highlighted Edgecombe Gray in last year’s Color Spotlight and shared several spaces painted in this versatile color.
Gray Owl is probably the most popular warm gray for Benjamin Moore. If not #1, I’m sure it’s close to #2.
Most of Benjamin Moore’s popular greens are actually green/blue/grey, which didn’t surprise me. Along with white and grey, these gorgeous shades of green/blue/grey are the biggest color trends right now. I would guess that Woodlawn Blue (which Benjamin Moore classifies as a green) is Benjamin Moore’s most popular green, as I see it used frequently among designers, builders, and homeowners. One of my favorite colors!
Benjamin Moore Wyeth Blue is another green/blue/grey color that has been very popular for as long as I’ve been blogging! Another great color.
Colour Stories — Days Paints & Design
Coincidentally, I noticed that green is the big predicted color trend for 2018 in paint manufacturers’ 2018 paint color predictions. I think we’ll move to more muted greens, like a softer sage, but still with blue/grey undertones.
On a side note, I was shocked to see that Benjamin Moore Wedgwood Grey, which has been on the list for years, is not listed. It is one of the most popular and beautiful greens out there!
If you want to see more spaces in this versatile and beautiful color, I highlighted Wedgwood Gray in Color Spotlight a few months ago.
There are very few surprises as the most popular whites on this list, but I have to say that Benjamin Moore didn’t make the decorator’s white list! This must be a mistake, because decorator’s white is probably one of the most popular paint colors on the planet. I’m going to assume that’s wrong and tell you to definitely put it on your radar if you don’t already know about Decorator’s White!
The Benjamin Moore Aura Color Stories Collection
After Sherwin Williams Repose Gray, Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White is on my list of “go-to” colors and the one I recommend the most to my clients. It is a fantastic cabinet, decoration and interior door color. However, I primarily recommend Decorator’s White for cabinets, trim, and interior doors in areas without natural light, as this white immediately brightens the space and is not a warm color at night or in artificial light. .
Benjamin Moore Simply White has really taken off over the years and has become one of the most popular whites. However, I would only recommend it in a place with lots of natural light as the heat is very low.
Picking out whites is very difficult, but there is a very handy trick I use to quickly find undertones in whites. You can read how I did it here.
There are many popular Benjamin Moore colors that I didn’t review today, but if you want to see more of these colors, you can check out the Benjamin Moore website.

Let me tell you, I love Benjamin Moore’s collection of colorful stories. They are full spectrum paint colors that are clear, rich and vibrant. Sometimes I like to describe these colors as iridescent because they change at different times of the day and with different light sources. Each color is complex and adds some kind of dimension to the paint that I promise you’ve never seen before!
While most paint colors use three pigments, full spectrum colors are created by mixing 5-7 pigments and most importantly do not use black or gray pigments. It helps create more subtle colors while being very saturated and rich.
Revealed: The Benjamin Moore Color Of The Year 2021
Because these colors are specially formulated, they can only be made into one product, Aura. Now, this is definitely BM’s top paint (and I highly recommend this paint product), but not every job needs line paint. Many artists, contractors and DIYers like to work with other JV products. For this reason, I find it very helpful to choose colors from other collections that are compatible with CSP (Color Story) colors, but can be used for any Benjamin Moore product.
Another important reason for making this adjustment is that CSP colors can only be made for interior paint. Often, people fall in love with a CSP color for its looks that they might not own.
Below I have listed all the colors in the collection that match other Benjamin Moore products and other colors that can be created and used for outdoor purposes.
One last point I want to add before I get to the list is that you lose the quality of the full spectrum of color by using this color adjustment. The stunning color features in this complex collection of 240 are heavenly. Colors available only in Aura® Interior Paints.
