In the past, it was even believed that painting your home with Revere Pewter paint would guarantee a quick sale. And sometimes it was! This belief alone was a huge selling point, compelling every homeowner and realtor to switch to this magic color before any other paint.

Because it was so popular, many people now associate RP with this time period (about 12/10 years ago). So you may have heard that it is now an old paint color.

But you can successfully use 100% Revere Pewter in your home in 2023 and it will still work great!

What you really need to know is if this paint will work in your space.

Revere Pewter is sometimes described as “muddy”. This may scare people off as the term mud has a negative connotation. In fact, the phrase “mud color” is a term used to describe grays, browns, and other “blended” saturated colors – and there’s nothing wrong with that. That doesn’t mean it’s pure and clean without the vibrant colors!

My Favorite (and Less So!) Paint Colors: What I Have In My Home

It is very important to remember that grey/beige/greige paint will vary greatly depending on how your room is lit, the artificial lighting you use and the color of the floors, furniture and decorations you use. the universe

So just because the Revere Pewter looks perfect in a picture on Pinterest doesn’t mean it will be in yours! Many factors determine the appearance of color in a room. Not to mention the professional lighting, staging, and post-processing that goes into professional photography. So keep that in mind when looking at photos online or in magazines.

It seems counter-intuitive to consider a paint with a green tint to be warm – after all, isn’t green a cool color?! Well, that depends on which sheet you’re talking about! In the case of Revere Pewter, the tone is similar to olive green, a warm green. The color is therefore considered a warm gray.

It seems to have a slight green tint, giving it an earthy, saturated, soft, and dark feel. If that’s what bothers you, you’ll probably want to stay away from this painting! Or, you may not see the green tones at all. It all depends on your sensitivity to color!

Best Benjamin Moore Exterior Paint Colors

I wouldn’t recommend using the Revere Pewter in a tiled or pink carpeted room. The color behaves in relation to the surrounding colors. Since red and green are complementary colors, if you combine green paint with pink floors, your walls will look too green and the floors will look too pink.

What colors go well with Revere Pewter? This is a super common question. Naturally, many would be interested in the answer to this question – the choice of paint can be quite wide!

About 10 years ago, people mostly associated Revere Pewter with sage green, dark blue, and brown. Although these are beautiful color palettes, they seem a bit outdated right now.

It’s still possible to use RP in a modern way in our decade – and let me tell you, it looks like a whole new color! I think it looks best when combined with deeper, darker colors to give more contrast than gray.

The Best Paint Colors To Use For Every Room Of The House

The modern color combination I mentioned above may not be for you, but if you still prefer a modern style, you can always use Revere Pewter: I recommend the combination with a large amount of white.

If you are looking for white decor to combine with a Revere Pewter room, you can consider one of the white paints I mentioned above.

When choosing your decorative paint, be sure to look at the curtains and other features in your room.

The Revere Pewter’s LRV sits at 55.51, so it’s average in terms of reflectivity and color absorption.

Well, if you’re considering Revere Pewter for a room that doesn’t get a lot of light, keep in mind that this color doesn’t reflect light wildly (since it’s right in the middle of the LRV range) .

So if you’re looking to brighten up your room, this isn’t the best paint choice – you’ll want to choose a paint with a high LRV (paint over 60 LRV).

Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray has a higher LRV than Revere Pewter, at 60, which means it’s lighter in color and reflects more light overall.

Nifty Shades Of Gray

There is a great post with lots of photos detailing the differences between these two paints. If you’re not sure which gray is right for you, I suggest you take a look.

The Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige also has a slightly higher LRV than the Revere Pewter, at 58. So overall, it’s a pretty bright ink by far. It has a pink/gray tone.

The main difference between these two grays is that the more accessible Revere beige has a warmer gray than the pewter gray.

I have found the Revere Pewter to work well in homes that lean towards more traditional decor. The soft, warm yet subtle quality of this gray paint really accentuates curved furniture, moldings and rich wood tones.

It can work well with traditional farmhouse or modern farmhouse decor (if paired with the right colors).

While RP isn’t the newest “paint kid” on the block, there are plenty of opportunities to incorporate it into modern palettes.

I have to be honest with you, my favorite place to use the Revere Pewter these days is not on the wall but actually in the closet!

Gray cabinets pair beautifully with crisp white walls, bronze accents and black window frames. In the kitchen, paired with a marble countertop, it also looks stunning.

Why Designer’s Love Benjamin Moore’s Revere Pewter Gray Paint

Paint your doors in RP and give them a nice warm white color – it’s similar to what Zenia from Style it beautiful home did, amazing! She used a paint called Into the Gloaming by Sherwin Williams, very similar to Revere Pewter.

The owner of this home chose to decorate the interior and doors with Revere Pewter, while keeping the walls white. This is an interesting and unique idea, many people are used to seeing the opposite, i.e. white decorations on colored walls.

A note on the trim colors above: I have a lot of questions about the trim color in the photo above. Unfortunately, I don’t know what color it is! The house in the picture is not mine and I didn’t choose the paint color so I can’t say for sure what the white paint on the trim is. I tried to find online records of colors used for decorating and couldn’t find any information. If I knew, I would include it! My recommendation is to take this photo to your local paint expert and ask him what he thinks, his predictions are the same as mine! Then sample and test things in real life. Never decide to draw from a photo.

Revere Pewter is not gray or tan; It is considered a “greige” painting! In dark rooms it looks more green, in bright rooms it has a warm, neutral gray.
