Select the highlighted shape in the image below and focus on the Color panel (Window > Color) to check the current fill color. You can see that orange is made up of 6% cyan, 70% magenta, and 90% yellow. These three colors and black make a four-color job. Now you can convert it to a two-color job and print it when you want the orange to be the only color.

Make sure your shape is still selected and go to Edit > Color Correction > Recolor Art (or click Recolor Art from the Control Panel) to find your correct Pantone.
In the newly opened dialog box, click the highlighted button to control the color conversion to the color library you specified. Go to Color Book > PANTONE + Solid Coated and, looking back at the Color panel, you’ll see that the orange color has been changed to Pantone and the Pantone Spot Color has been added to the Swatches panel (Window > Swatches).
Now you can select that starburst shape, assign it the same pantone color from the swatch panel, and reduce its color to about 50%.

There has been a lively discussion on this topic over the past few days on the Adobe forum and on the color management forum at hilfdirselbst.ch, so I wanted to summarize it as our customers struggle with similar issues.
The key question is which standard or color profile does the CMYK value of the PANTONE color in the bridge belong to? In particular, a user requested to change the color tone PANTONE 116 C shown in CMYK 0/14/100/0 in the PANTONE Bridge Fan (you can see the original values in PANTONE here). But now if you convert basic PANTONE Lab color values to different CMYK profiles in InDesign or Photoshop, you get different, significantly different color values. “What do Pantone bridge CMYK color values mean” is the main question of the discussion.
The Pantone Bridge fan assigns CMYK values to Pantone spot colors divided by the 4 Pantone scale colors for “equivalent” coated and uncoated paper types.
But one thing is clear: substrate, print density, ink used etc. Without accurate information about it, the information provided there is of limited validity. For example, if the PANTONE 116 C LAB color value is converted to the SWOP web card commonly used in the United States, it achieves a value of 20 instead of 14 as shown in the Pantone Bridge Fan.
What’s The Difference Between Pms, Cmyk, Rgb And Hex?
If you compare original PANTONE LAB values and PANTONE Bridge CMYK values to paper coated with European standards such as ISOCoatedV2 or PSOCoatedV3 or not coated with PSOUncoated or PSOUncoatedV3, sometimes significant color deviations occur. In CMYK conversion, Pantone Cool Gray 2 is the lightest, Pantone Cool Gray 11 is always the darkest. Bridged CMYK values for PANTONE 3278 C match well for PSOCoatedV3, but the same comparison for Uncoated is very poor. What is the reason for this?
Thesis :: Why should a spot color manufacturer ensure correct CMYK conversion values for their products? This will affect the business
One thing is clear: what Pantone is doing is not a computer error, but it is surprising that the price of the bridge has changed by a few percentage points over the years, perhaps due to the use of different base pigments and price adjustments over the years. But it is not possible to know how the values are generated, what profile and what is behind the values or what the logic might be. Some panelists speculated about a deliberate system error: “Que Bono? Why should a spot color manufacturer provide correct CMYK conversion values for their products? This will affect the business. “
It’s an interesting approach that doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense at second glance. If a company executive saw Pantone spot colors badly displaced by CMYK, he would sigh and agree to pay extra for five-color printing.

Let’s say Pantone “Green 1” corresponds to a 30/0/100/0 CMYK color. What if the fan displays two saturated green tones (“green 2” and “green 3”) that should theoretically be displayed as CMYK 35/0/110/0 and CMYK 40/0/120/0?
To set all three green tones to CMYK 30/0/100/0, i.e. the next CMYK value available in the full color gamut? This would actually be the most obvious way, especially since in practice CMYK conversion is unlikely to use two adjacent PANTONE colors. Because a company has either green 1 or green 2 as its corporate color, but rarely both at the same time.
On the other hand, a buyer of a Pantone bridge fan will be very surprised that the different PANTONE colors in the fan have the same CMYK value.
So, the fix in the psychological selling section is obvious: to avoid uniform CMYK values, we set the most saturated green tones to CMYK 30/0/100/0, and then the least saturated colors to 25/0. /0/90/0 and 20/0/0/80/0, which means they don’t match CMYK values. Nothing else matches right now, but at least all the colors have different CMYK values

Experience has shown: A modified conversion with an ICC profile provides a better CMYK color value for converting PANTONE colors to CMYK values than a PANTONE bridge.
