Before applying any paint, make sure your bricks are correct and secure. Any loose or slippery material should be removed and the grout primed. If the brick wall is old (for example, if you live in a period area), consider using lime mortar.

Brick walls, its two-part system creates strong chemical bonds with the masonry, so it’s not really necessary for interior masonry. Clay paint, on the other hand, is a thick, creamy paint that is very easy to apply. Its high clay content guarantees maximum protection and great breathability, with a smooth and super matte finish.
Because brick is more textured than masonry walls, it’s generally easier to apply Claypaint with a brush. Diluting the primer with 2 parts water to 8 parts paint will help achieve an even finish. Apply another clear coat for full coverage.
Claypaint does not require a top coat, but if you feel your painted bricks should be more durable, you can also use a water-based coat of Wall Glaze as a protective finish.

Pros & Cons Of Exposed Brick
Our project was inspired by a photo we saw on your blog and it turned out really well. We painted light brick pieces and the result was amazing as you can see. They also paired well with the red brick and we were tempted to leave them, but they didn’t go well with the other colors in the kitchen.
Yes, we are happy with how it all went. We actually covered the brick pieces in white before switching to the dark color (which is obviously ‘Railings’ by Farrow and Balls) and the white looked great again. We were too scared to paint it because mixing red bricks before painting it white made it look weird, but overall we think we made the right decision.
Without wanting to sound too bad, one of the things the builder struggled with was the different widths of the pieces when placing them. I don’t know if he was trying to make the job harder than it was, but he said it was a little boring. However, it gave the final look a rustic feel, which is what we were looking for.
They were also difficult to draw. It took me most of the day to paint the white. We had a painter do the final coats, and it’s definitely a job for a heavy brush, not a roller. It’s also better to work a few bricks by the time he counted, finish and move on. Either way, it takes time, but the end is worth it.
