Sherwin Williams Exterior Grey Colors – It’s very frustrating when you have an idea in your head – but you can’t do it.
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I realize that I bought 38 pots of sample paint from Sharon Williams. Not to mention all the gas + time coming to their store.

There was no question in my mind that I wanted a light gray house. The challenge was finding a color I liked.

We have been here for the past few weeks. We cut trees and removed many trees and bushes near the house. Remember that nothing but grass grows for 4 years. So that was a job in itself.
Photographing a house is difficult. Because it’s a tall farm, there aren’t many building details. So what you don’t see is the master bedroom on the left and the detached garage. You can also see the painted swings they made near the front door. But the thing is, they are all bricks. And we wanted an exterior paint that worked with the brick + that would last as long as possible. We chose The Lasting Formula from Sharon Williams.
I thought I already had the perfect shade of gray picked out and it would be good to go when our artists were ready. I felt good about it. I am actually very happy to read this section.
It was the joy of victory and immediately turned into the pain of defeat when I saw it at home. I thought I had the right color.
Beautiful Dark Gray Exterior Paint Colors In Action (with Paint Color Names)
I drove my husband crazy, not to mention the cost of the first coat of paint, and I drove my friends crazy. When it comes to the “approval process” you want to know what other people think, but really, you have to remember that you should be the one deciding the paint color. Only you – because you will be with him. Luckily I had 2 very close friends who knew me well and trusted their judgment, so they helped me narrow down my options.
You can see the blue ice gray under all the color samples. I’m sure it’s hard to tell from the photo, but trust me it came out blue-grey on me. I believe most of Sharon William is lying near my house. I wanted to be sure this time. People have told me to lean more towards gray or blue-grey. But I didn’t want those words. I wanted a pure silver/gray color.
Here is a list of home paint colors (all Sharon Williams colors):
I will explain the % numbers you see there. You see, it started in my daughter’s room when I was trying to choose a shade of pink (another difficult color!) I was trying to decide between 2 colors with my painter. (God loves him) said: “Why? They strengthen the color and make a strong color?” That’s exactly what I did for her pink room, which we ended up with. Its color is also 125%.

That’s what I was doing here with the gray. I wish they would tone down my favorite colors so I could see them darker or richer. I hope everything makes sense to you all. Because sometimes paint colors need to be added a little to make the colors richer. Also, another thing to think about when you find a color you really like, because your home will be exposed to a lot of outdoor elements, so painting your color Weather Weight can help. I mean… let’s be honest. Spread is not a problem.
I got bored choosing the 13 colors above. I have painted large ones to see at home. On the right is the original color (carrot) that was in the house when we bought it. You can see that they have already started cutting it on the right side. But here I stopped them because the color was blue.
He stayed there for many days. So I was completely convinced … and I was completely driving my friends. 😉
At that moment you finally see the right color for your home and you have to accept it!
Paint Color Home Tour: Nature Inspired Neutrals
We still have work to do and all the molds need another coat. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that my husband and I are big fans of black holes and turrets as opposed to a light colored house. Yes, I know a lot of people don’t feel the same way we do. As many people have told me recently. Or even asked why I would do this. But we love it, and when I say to these people, “This is our home.” Our feet will be black and our front door will also be black.
Finally, we will put a new roof on this house. This house already has 3 terraces. Gulp. But it’s not in the budget. So we wait a little longer. It will also be dark. I’m sure we’ll build a black metal roof whenever that time comes.
I also thought I’d include some of my inspiration photos that I’ve been using to help me with this outdoor planning process:
I think it’s important to point out that our house is really simple if you look at it.
How To Prepare Your Home For Selling
The point is that painted brick brings a new texture to what most homes have to be hard slate.
And I love this post! But trying to figure out what the details of a traditional “fee” home can be is a challenge.
Not much. ok ok??? Well, I was inspired by the picture below. And I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have overlooked the brick walls (?) under the windows if I hadn’t seen this house down on Pinterest.
It gives more details on the whole house. And this trick is the cheapest and shows what the power of paint can do when painting brick walls under windows.

Below is an example of how I tried to mix colors and styles in my home. I use my iPhone and make a collage of inspirational images from Pinterest. It really helped me visualize the colors and paint styles I was experimenting with. I did this with inspiration photos and looked at them to compare whether I was out or at home.
(Above is a picture of our house when we first saw it in April) Look at the bushes in those windows. you are very crazy
Below is the house I used for the photo collage. This is 2 stories! But I cut that part out to see the comparison.
And I thought I’d add a few more for inspiration. Especially in painted brick houses.

As I mentioned above – we have already finished painting. Below is a good plan for us. Although it doesn’t look “pretty” and it’s not a nice “back” photo, it takes a lot of sweat and muscle to get to that point.
All the brown/beige parts you see are on the new side (not painted anyway.) We had to replace them all because they were all rotten. As I shared on IG, we are removing the pergola shown above now. We decided to make it bigger and better. We’re going to take it out and cut out the area you see above. The wall with the window on the right – we’ll go up this wall and end up where you see a sewer in the trash. We put a roof over it so that it has a covered area.
But we also replaced all the sealed windows with all those wooden windows. All wooden windows are absolutely beautiful, but wood can rot in a heartbeat if not taken care of! And since the house was empty for almost 4 years…
I think, or at least hope, that things are progressing with our house in the coming weeks. We hope to move there in about a month. Fingers crossed! Looking for the perfect dark gray for your cabinets, walls or exterior? You have come to the right blog! Today we look at the dark side of things with the most famous charcoal shades of Sharon Williams. But before we get started, we need to talk a little (as always).
