Sherwin Williams Fence Stain Colors – City Wide Fence uses Sherwin Williams SuperDeck Waterborne Solid Stain which provides durable, opaque protection. The colors marked with the icon reflect infrared technology that reflects harmful ultraviolet rays back into the atmosphere. This helps to lower the temperature of the deck surface, making the areas under bare feet look cooler than the typical dark color. The colors identified are Deck and Dock stains, which provide a higher level of water resistance and protection for damaged wood.
Actual colors may vary. This is because each computer monitor has a different ability to display colors and everyone sees these colors differently. We try to edit our photos to show the swatches as vividly as possible, but please understand that actual color may vary slightly from your monitor. We cannot guarantee that the color you see accurately reflects the actual color of the product.

Hello friends! Thank you very much to everyone for the great love for the metamorphosis of our backyard. The response has been tremendous and we’re really enjoying our new space… Well, WE WERE before this outrageous heatwave hit our area and it was over 106 for a few weeks. It’s going to be unbearable there. Needless to say, I can’t wait for this to pass so we can spend more time outside again. Though it’s been hot lately, we started feeling the heat before we finished the exterior space, one of the biggest projects of the entire remodel: deck staining. Fortunately, I managed to do it before the real arsonist showed up. Today I am sharing the process of how I undertook this project.
My biggest goal with our outdoor space was to make it look like an extension of our home’s interior. I really wanted to blur the lines between inside and outside, and I knew that the stain on the back would be a big factor in helping with that end result. While natural redwood is beautiful, I didn’t want it to look like a standard wooden deck. I love the warmth of the color of the wooden floor in our home and I was hoping to replicate it outside as well.

Because we used redwood, we had to wait several months after construction before applying a stain or protective coating. Thanks to this, wood and oils dry well, so they accept stains better and give an excellent color effect. The construction was completed in February and we left it to dry for 5 months before I painted it in July. If you work with wood like pine or Douglas fir, you may not have to wait that long (yet) before staining. After I came up with a plan to solve the project, I asked Sherwin-Williams to pick up stains and materials on the street.
I used an assortment of brushes, a roller, a metal tray, a spray pump, and Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck cleaner and stain to complete the project.
As with any painting project, great results start with a clean, well-prepared surface. I started cleaning everything from the deck and sweeping. Then I scrubbed it well. I used SuperDeck Revive Deck and Siding Brightener to scrub and clean the deck. This formula is specifically designed for use on uncoated cedar, redwood or pressure treated wood.
I got help with this part of the project as you need to make sure you don’t let the product dry on the wood while applying it. Naomi and I worked in small sections, wetting the area and applying SuperDeck Revive with a pump.
Pro Tips For Applying Solid Deck Stain (plus Prep Guide)
Once applied, she used a polygonal brush to clean the area. Then leave it for about 10 minutes and wash it with a high pressure hose.
Once we got into the rhythm, things moved quite quickly. After cleaning the entire deck, we leave it to dry overnight. The next morning the wood was fresh, renewed and revived… Like new again!
After cleaning the deck and preparing it for staining, I made another broom pass and taped the house where the deck meets to protect the exterior paint.
Now it’s time to get downstairs and get dirty. I chose the SuperDeck Exterior Waterborne formula in Semi-Solid Color. When choosing a county stain, it’s worth considering maintenance and recoating frequency. As a rule of thumb, the darker or more opaque the transparency is, the less you need to keep it. Sheer clothes and translucent stains will require more frequent maintenance and re-application, while semi-permanent or permanent stains may last longer before re-application is required. SuperDeck is great because it can even be applied to wet wood.
Deck Power Wash & Stain
SuperDeck Stain comes in many colors and I chose Chestnut SW 3524. I wanted a deep, saturated brown and this color was perfect when I tried color swatches a few months ago. Again, I observed a small area to stay
Now listen guys…your girlfriend was afraid to do that first brushing. How super scared. We’ve been saving it for a long time to build a deck, and the last thing I wanted to do was destroy it. It was a project that challenged me to trust my vision and trust the process. I started by applying it to the stain with a siesta roller and then used a 6 inch deck brush to gently smooth it out. Always apply in the direction of the fibres.
There was a bit of a learning curve when working with the blob as it was unlike using any other blob I have used before. You apply it like paint and just spray/brush the product without washing off the color after leaving it on the wood for a few minutes. Took me a while to figure it out but once I did it went smoothly. I was also working against the heat, so I had to act pretty fast. After the first day, I realized I preferred to apply the stain with a brush, so I pulled out a few of my other brushes (Purdy is my FAVORITE!) and as the project progressed.
Next time I get a crazy idea to save the deck, please save me from myself! When I tell you it took FOREVER!!! I didn’t know how big it was until I had to stain the deck. handmade Table by table It is massive and took much longer than I expected due to its size. Also, I was only able to work for short periods in the early morning and late afternoon when the outside temperature dropped below 90 degrees. I would recommend doing a deck stain project in the fall or spring when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold…just make sure there is no rain in the forecast. And don’t even make me start with everyone. single table
Wood Stain Color Options
It took me a few days, but I finally finished the first coat. I really wanted to take my time to get a good result. Gradually, I saw the vision come together.
The good thing about SuperDeck Stain is that it allows it to be dried and repainted in a water-based formula. You can apply additional layers after as little as 4 hours, and with a semi-fluid finish, you’ll want to apply two thin coats for best results. Depending on the size of your project, this product will allow it
