BM Pale Oak is the lightest color on this list, appearing on LRVs around 70. It’s a popular light warm gray that looks almost white if you have a lot of natural light. If you’re looking for a light gray look to BM Classic Gray

This article is written to help you narrow down the right colors for your home. There are many different shades of gray and although it is very neutral, it will reflect the color and light in the room. I hope this article helps you find the perfect gray for your home! Reverend Pewter stands out as an example of gray: a warm green-gray color with a bold beige background. It’s a transitional color because of its warmth and depth, making it an excellent choice for your home’s open floor plan.
It’s a fun color to play with because of the width and breadth of its halftones when exposed to light. Coincidentally, Benjamin Moore HC-172 retains the cool gray tones present in most lighting conditions.
All of this adds up to the most popular gray color on the market – and my personal favorite

Revere Pewter Hc 172 By Benjamin Moore
Revere Pewter is a camel color so it’s versatile Its best feature is that the shade stays gray while being warmer than other popular grays
It can have a lot of muddy noise though, sometimes giving off a bit of green if that’s what you’re going for, it might muddy the “clean” look, or if you’re looking for an earthy tone, it might suit you. This green will go well with a lot of green outside the window or in the room Shades of green can also work well in combination with dark floors
If you decide to use Benjamin Moore Reversible Pewter in a dark room or hallway, you need to give it enough light, otherwise you risk it looking dull and lifeless. In this situation or where there is a room with very dark and heavy furniture, Revere Pewter looks right off beige or brown!
The other side of this color shade is purple-blue In a spacious room with plenty of light, Reverb Pewter almost loses the beige background and replaces it with a blue tone. When heated, it produces a more traditional gray color
The Best Gray Paint Colors In The Universe
The Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is the percentage of light reflected in the color of the paint. With a higher LRV, the more light it reflects than it absorbs, making it whiter. While a lower LRV will be a darker color. So where does Revere Pewter fit on the scale?
So it’s right in the middle of the LRV spectrum. In rooms with little or no natural light, you’ll want to choose colors with an LRV of 60 or higher. So if that’s your thing, I might mix it with Edgecombe Gray or Reverber Pewter at 75% strength.
Many colors look good with Revere Pewter! I believe so strongly in the versatility of this shade that I wrote an entire post on color matching with HC-172. Here are some more ideas for color combinations:
It can be balanced with light gray and white like soft white, cloudy white and plain white for a light feeling in the room.

Great with Reverb Pewter – it really is a shade that boasts versatility with lights from bright red to avocado green to yellow or magenta. For a real pop of color, try Coral Gables by Benjamin Moore or Turquoise!
I’d go with an off-white or warm white for the decor. As long as you stay away from overly yellowish whites, you should be fine!
As you’ll see in the image below, Reverb Pewter is slightly darker and warmer than the usual gray. Many people try to find comparable colors from other paint manufacturers and often compare Reverber Pewter to Agreeable Gray (Sherwin Williams).
In fact, Revere Pewter is one of the most popular gray colors, but you can choose any of them and be happy with your choice! Just be aware of the tone and choose accordingly!
Living Room Paint Color
After debating between several paint colors, I finally decided to use HC-172 in our last living room – and I absolutely love it!
We had those lovely taupe shades when we wore gray in our living room The natural light joins the pewter reverberation to make the room extra cozy and warm In my opinion this is a great color for any open space as it helps the room feel cozy without crowded the space.
While Revere Pewter has been the most popular paint color for over a decade, we’re seeing top interior designers use this soft grey/beige shade.
This versatile color can be used virtually anywhere, on trim, walls, cabinets and floors.
