I will be using this blog to give you my honest opinion as a decorator on everything Valspar has to offer. This is my Valspar paint review and guide. I hope you find it useful.
Valspar Paint Palette 2022 Color Blanched Thyme Interior
I thought I would start at the lower end of the product scale and work my way up. Valspar Simplicity is a very affordable emulsion with a multi-polymer binder very similar to compact mattes. Opacity is good and it may take several coats of this paint to cover the wall properly. Valspar’s simplicity doesn’t last long, and the end is hard. Lighting and picture frames can be intimidating when bold colors are used. Also, after it is completely dry, you can wipe the paint off your wall.
The adage comes up when buying paint, “You get what you buy”. In this case, that’s true. Valspar Simplicity is a very opaque paint and should be avoided at all costs.
This is a great product!! Valspar V500 is a great product from Valspar Simplicity. V500 is a solid emulsion available in matte or silk. You can use this paint on interior walls and ceilings with beautiful finishes. Reds and blues can be a nightmare because some colors have low opacity. Avoid using Valspar V500 on solid colors or you will need to apply an additional coat. Also, it is a good emulsion.
Here we go!! Valspar V700 is a durable product available in matte between sheen and silk. I know it’s expensive, but the finish is great. Opacity is good except for the horrible reds and blues. Many decorators I know have had problems with solid colors, which you wouldn’t expect for the price of this paint.
Best Gray Paint Colors From Valspar In 2023
I still love the V700. It’s not as durable as other hard mat products out there, but it can hold up in the kitchen or take a hit in a crowded space. This paint is very popular with homeowners who don’t mind paying a little more when they get something nice in return.
Valspar Trade Emulsion is again a step up in price and quality. Available in matte, mid-sheen and silk. The product is easy to use, provides high opacity and a beautiful finish. Valspar products are designed for professional grooming. Public opinion about them is good.
However, many professional decorators do not use Valspar products, so there is a problem somewhere. For me it comes down to two parts. First, Valspar does not have full contact with professionals, so they cannot meet our needs.
Secondly, the price of the product Valspar Vs quality. Most decorators are happy to use Valspar Trade, but we can also use Johnstones Trade and a trade site like Paint Shed to find great products.

A matte joint is sometimes used as a vapor coat or finishing coat on new plaster because it allows the plaster to breathe. Another good product in my opinion is the Valspar Compact Matte. It doesn’t feel as dragging as other compact mats I’ve used, meaning Valspar’s compact mats provide a better finish. It is easy to reuse and looks amazing. I’ve seen posts on the decorator forum UK of people having problems with Valspar matte peeling contracts due to poor mixing. I have used this paint many times and never had a problem.
Valspar Trade Paint is another good product. It is a water-based paint used for exterior construction. The opacity and ease of use are out of this world! I prefer to spray this product, but it works best when applied with a brush or roller.
It is a water based product that is used inside wood and metal. Available in white, or any bright color. If you want to use Valspar Trade Egg on problems like old oil gloss or melamine, you’ll need another adhesive primer.
Valspar Trade Eggshell is a very smart product. Visibility isn’t great; However, the ease of use and overall finish are excellent. Brush marks seem to melt away. Another major advantage is the stability of the dye, which is better than many other egg products. I recommend this painting. Full review here.

I thought I’d call it Valspar Glitter because it’s such a fun product. Available in gold or silver, add to your drawing before you start. The standard is one packet of glitter per liter of paint. Just add it to your paint for your final coat and it will add some bounce!! Perfect for dressing room, or girls room. A reflective wall is a great feature and something I’ve been asked about many times.
