Warm Cosy Living Room Ideas – My favorite room in my tiny house is by far my lounge. I have a very large bedroom which I love, but my lounge feels like the heart of my home. I love how cozy it is in there and I can sit on the couch while I work (especially in this cold!) or binge on Netflix in the evening. I don’t really do much these days because I feel like there’s just too much going on. There are a few things I want to change, like the couch, the lamp shade, and the TV unit… I want to add a sideboard next to the window at some point, but that’s about all I’d like to possibly do. Save for and gradually change over time. So far I’m happy with how it looks and I just like the comfort. I thought I’d share some pictures of the room here since I’ve been sharing my house on Instagram so far and my blog has been neglecting it. I’ll share some tips for creating a warm and cozy living room!
This was my lounge when I first moved in…all the walls were painted white so all I had were the floors and then I could go on in style! Not a typical house makeover as I was lucky enough to have an empty, neutral space to work with, but it was still a change from a cold and empty shell to a cozy and welcoming home. Sometimes I would choose a different floor option, maybe something lighter and warmer – but my living room wasn’t that big… and with a big rug between the floor and all the furniture, it would be a waste of money. Replace the floor now because you won’t see it at all! I love the large rug in the middle of the floor, it’s from Wayfair and really brightens up the space and the contrast between it and the dark wood floors is great. I love wood/laminate floors, but adding a rug always adds to the coziness.
Warm Cosy Living Room Ideas
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already see how often I mix things up. Moving plants, redecorating the fireplace, a cover for the coffee table, different flowers…that’s the best thing about styling a home?! It took me years to find a coffee table I liked, putting off spending on one because I had other knick-knacks around the house. I also liked the large area on the carpet as it was a great place for Roo to play, but when I added it he loved playing on it and with his desk. The room has a small corner – where he can do more. Chaos at will! My coffee table is made of metal and pine herringbone from La Redoute, Nottingham. I absolutely love it, love the herringbone design and think it’s great for the price. I think I got 40% off so I got an amazing deal! I like to add a mix of light fabrics and wood tones to the room, I think the two together keep it from being too dark and just create that lovely warmth. I love the brass and gold to add warmth!
Living Room Sofa Ideas
I’m a big fan of side tables. I have a large one (actually a coffee table) around the window in the living room, which as mentioned is Roo’s little corner, so this is his desk. This is from Amazon. I also have a dark wooden one from JYSK that was really cheap with a big vase and candles next to the TV and then I have a marble and gold one next to the sofa that I bought a few years ago. Originally it had a vase of flowers but now it has a table lamp and some books so it looks nice. The tables are simply amazing. They fill small corners but give you extra surfaces to place vases, candles, jewelry, whatever you want. What’s not to love? I also like to fill my coffee table with fresh flowers, books and candles. I think anything homey and personal you put in your room will make it feel warmer and cozier.
Adding prints and cute little things is a great way to fill in the gaps, I think I prefer a busier home than usual. For maximum comfort, I added a faux fireplace, which you can read all about in this post – and it’s still one of the best aspects of my home. I love lighting all the candles in the evening and it feels like home! Candles are always a must in the home I feel. I originally filled my closet with lots of knick-knacks, but I recently went to Homesense and found a beautiful print in a frame that I put together. I think it fills up this side of the room a lot because the white wall is so empty. I think the corner between the fireplace and the couch could do something else, though I don’t know what. I had the plaster removed from this chest 4 years ago when I was in the midst of expansion, dust and life. I haven’t done anything since then and today was fine. .
