20 By 30 Pole Barn – This step by step woodworking project is part of the free 20×30 pole barn plans. This pole barn is sturdy, easy to build, cost-friendly and has a 4:12 gable roof beam. The frame is extremely strong made from 6×6 posts and engineered cushions. Read the local building codes, so make sure you follow the building codes. When buying wood, you need to carefully choose boards that are straight and have no visible defects (cracks, knots, twists, rot). 20 By 30 Pole Barn
The first step in the project was to build 6×6 posts for the large pole barn. You can set the posts into the concrete about 3-4′ (be sure to read your local building posts to find out the exact depth of your local front line specifications). You can dig the holes by hand, or you can use an auger drill. However, I designed this project assuming that you will be pouring concrete foundations and installing post anchors.

Use the color code from the diagram to place the posts correctly. Use bat boards and string to install posts professionally. Apply the 3-4-5 rule to the corners to make sure they are square. Also, make sure the diagonals are equal. It is important to take accurate measurements before assembling the articles. The center posts are slightly larger so you have back support to attach and secure the end straps.
After marking the post locations, dig holes 16 inches wide and pour the concrete foundation. Install post anchors. Flatten the ground as much as possible, as this will help you later. Use the spirit level to hit the posts. Also, use temporary ties to securely lock the posts when pouring cement into the holes. Allow the concrete to dry before proceeding with the project. Make sure the ends of the side posts are horizontal and cut off the excess.
Next, install the 2×8 boards for the splash boards. Carefully align the edges and use a spirit level to make sure they are perfectly horizontal. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2 inch screws to lock firmly in place. Invest in pressure treated lumber because these boards tend to soften.
Place 2×8 pillow supports on top of the posts, on the sides of the post barn. Align the edges and use a spirit level to make sure the beams are perfectly horizontal. Glue the beams to the studs, drill pilot holes, and lock them firmly in place with 3 1/2-inch lag screws.

Continue the project by placing the tarp carriers in front of the pole barn. Align the sides, making sure the beams are horizontal, and then lock them to the posts with 3 1/2 inch lag screws.
Continue the project by installing 2×8 beams on the back of the pole barn. Tap the spirit level posts. Use a spirit level to make sure the beams are perfectly horizontal.
Next, you need to start attaching the legs to the front of the pole barn. Place the 2x4s on the posts every 24 inches as shown on the plans. Line up the sides and insert 3 1/2 inch screws to lock the beams to the posts.
Place the 2×4 supports on the back of the barn as shown in the photo. Place the supports evenly and lock them to the studs using 3 1/2 inch screws.

Grate board on the side of the big pole barn, too. Use 3 1/2 inch screws to lock the plates to the posts.
Use a 2×4 board for the straps that run along the side of the barn post. Make 45 degree cuts on both ends of the straps and attach them to the post frame structure as shown in the picture. Drill pilot holes and use 3 1/2 inch screws to lock them in place.
Use 1/2 inch lumber for materials. Mark the cut edges of the plaster sheets and then make a circle. Place the edges of the straps and align the edges. Insert 1 5/8 inch screws to lock the sides firmly in place.
Use 2×4 boards for the diagonal braces. Make a 60 degree cut on both ends of the straps and then attach them to the front and back of the pole barn.
The Affordability Of A 40 X 40 Pole Barn Kit
The straps keep everything locked together and add extra strength to the structure. Drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2 inch screws to lock the brackets to the posts. Make sure the posts are weak.

It is a large residence built on a post frame structure to reduce costs. The pole barn has front, rear and side overhangs as well as a generous 8ft headroom at the front. Due to the post frame structure, you can easily add windows to the sides of the pole barn as well as a second door for easy access to the interior.
