I kid you not, this is the New England contractor experience. My web searches always turn up Shades Unlimited and I’ve seen stories of people in New England building garages even though they’re in Pennsylvania. Decided to go through the referral process. There is a similar garage and garage company near my house in New England, so I got quotes from both for the same garage. The New England company quoted a figure 2 1/2 times higher than Shades Unlimited. I decided to go with Sheds Unlimited. I worked with Sergey to sell as many emails as I wanted. There was never a moment when he became impatient with my questions and my changes. Everything is possible and everything has a clear dollar amount; There is no rush in business. I finally decided on a design and paid the deposit. The local permitting process went smoothly with the plans I purchased from Shades Unlimited. Getting the foundation and foundation from a local contractor can be the most difficult part of the process. Concrete contractors often work with homeowners rather than builders. But I found the guy and sorted it out and finally got a good pad and foundation. I told Michael from Shades Unlimited that the pad is ready and it’s summer so wait 10+ weeks. After 5 weeks I got a call from Gideon who was ready for the project manager. On the appointed day, Nathan and his crew of 3 men; The hard working Amish carpenters came and found my road in the worst condition. Due to the narrowness of the driveway and the tight turns, we were unable to get their very long and heavy trailer onto our driveway. So I have to haul everything from the trailer to the construction site about 900 feet from the public road. They faced local traffic and unhelpful local police. The new crew had to drive 900 feet to make sure the pre-built structure didn’t crash into the trees. He never showed frustration or anger. Nathan is still positive and smiling when I talk to him. After all these difficulties of arrival, when they started to build the garage, they grew incredibly fast. Every worker knows his share. It is not a question of what they should do. Despite the delay due to road issues, we had a full 2 story 2 story garage in one day. It stopped only on a day of heavy rain. I came the next morning at half past five and finished the job. I can’t say enough good things about what I saw with this construction crew. Like I said, in 26 years of hiring various contractors for home projects, I’ve never seen anything like this.
