Dove White Paint From Sherwin Williams – Last week I shared with you that my first project of the year was a small kitchen makeover. Color will be the biggest part of the change. Our kitchen has white cabinets, black granite, and green sea salt paint on the walls. I wanted to paint the walls white. I think it would work much better with a black counter.

That’s why today I’m sharing some of my favorite and tried-and-tested white paint colors. I have had the opportunity to choose colors for many design projects and these whites are always my go-to.

White dove is a nice warm white. It has some gray undertones that make it a soft creamy white, but it doesn’t look yellow/white. It’s a great color for walls, trim, and cabinets.

My (updated) White Paint Guide

Simply white is the color we painted our downstairs bathroom and we love it! It was named the color of 2016 and I think it’s one of the most versatile whites. This white is warm without being too yellow and bright without being too blue/blue. It will give you a fresh and clean look, and if you’re making a decision, you won’t go wrong.

Decorative white is true white. It has a slight gray undertone that softens the color, but overall it’s my go-to for true pure white. I usually use it on a board or cabinet.

We have alabaster in our living room and it’s a nice warm white. It is very similar to Benjamin Moore’s White Dove. It looks good next to a bright white border that isn’t too yellow. It is also a popular color used on ships.

Cloud White is a soft warm white that falls between White Dove and plain white. It has a neutral tone which makes it very versatile. You can even use this color on walls, tiles, and ceilings!

Pure White is a slightly warm crisp white which is perfect when you’re looking for a true white that isn’t blue/powerful. If you choose a white kitchen, this color is perfect for the cabinets. It is also suitable for walls and cladding.

Chantilly Lace is another true white with a hint of blue that gives it a fresh and clean look. It’s a brighter white, so it blends well with rooms that use cool tones in the overall decor.

Now that I’ve shared my favorites, the hardest part is choosing one. Below are tips that I use for myself and my clients.

1. Narrow down your options. I like to pick a few colors and then narrow it down to 3-4 options. Too many options can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to make a decision.

2. You can take the next step in one of three ways. As long as you don’t ignore the paint swatches on the walls, you can paint the 3 colors of your choice in several different areas of your space. A better option is to order bulk samples from Samplize.

Samplize is an online store that offers paint samples that are painted, peeled and glued with the right paint color. This allows you to see what the actual color will look like without damaging the wall. You can save all those paint cans without the cleanup and waste.

Another option is to paint a pattern on a large piece of foam board and move it around your space. The main purpose of this is to see how the colors look at different times of the day and in different light.

3. Another important thing to consider when choosing a color is gloss. I usually do eggshell on the walls, satin or semi-gloss for decoration and flat on the ceiling. Gloss can affect the appearance of paint, so it’s important to address this before choosing a sample.

Choosing the best white color for your space can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve created this Sherwin Williams Best White Paint Guide to help you choose cool, warm, and undertones to find your perfect match.

I was asked, “Which white color is best for our home?” is often asked. The short answer is that it depends on many factors, including the trend of the room, natural light, how and when the room will be used, and what the other elements of the room will be.

But we’ll cover it all and leave you with a list of great Sherwin Williams white colors to try in your space. It depends on whether you like cool or warm colors, and which color works best with which element.

The Best White Exterior Paint Colors

Mass tone etc. Whenever a color is produced by mixing two or more colors, that color has a mass color or tone. The color of the mass is the first thing you see; This means that the colors are red, blue, green, etc. The closer it is to the tone of the mass, the more true the color will be. So a true red would be similar to solid color and tone, and crimson would be blue, while poppy would be orange. – MIX and TATCH via Sherwin-Williams.com

When we talk about a color in comparison to other colors, we use the bottom color. Or cooler/warmer, or cleaner/mudder than the comparison object. And it will go towards the bottom color.

Let me give you an example comparing the bottom color and the three whites.

The easiest way to determine the shade of a color is to compare it with true white and the base color.

If you match blue, red, yellow, you can choose the color you want.

So, before you start painting an entire room with colors from this list, there are a few things to consider about what you already have.

This will prevent problems with mismatched shades. You should also always paint a large sample board before choosing a color.

Okay, I know you want to choose the best white color for your space, but we’ll get there slowly.

We’re going to talk about the things you should do before buying a gallon of paint.

Before you buy paint and hit the wall, I want to give you a really strong foundation. To choose the best color, follow these simple steps before applying wall paint.

Now you know I’m a big fan of whole house plans. This will save you money in the long run because you won’t be making purchases that don’t match the size, color, or style of your home.

Before you start painting, you should at least have a plan of the entire room. If you plan to keep your existing furniture, plan from top to bottom to start from scratch. The plan should include the following:

Once you’ve made a complete list of everything you think you’ll need, plan out your space with a floor planning tool like this one.

Then use an app like Canva to make a mood board using images of the items you’ve already selected.

If you haven’t bought anything yet, start on Pinterest and identify your favorite rooms. Make a list of common points. Use these elements to design the room.

Once you have a room plan, remember what you can’t change. This list should include stubborn items that cannot be removed from the room.

For each of these items, you need to determine the tone of the element. List each item and circle it. Then write whether it can be changed.

As with the room’s fixed elements, consider using the furniture you already have.

You need to pay attention to the background color of the fabric of the pieces and match them with the color of the paint you are considering. This is to make them look “clean” and not have a mess next to them.

Next on the list is natural and supplemental light. Light sources can be ceiling lights, chandeliers, lamps, hallway lights, floor and table lamps.

Your lights should be as much a part of your overall design as the lamps you use. For a soft, natural light, set the LED temperature to 2700 – 3000 K.

As for natural daylight, it depends on the number of windows in the room
