Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron Sherwin Williams Equivalent – In the (almost) 7 years I’ve been blogging about paint colors, I’ve never shared my favorite color palette with you. I get messages and questions on my Facebook page about what is my favorite black, my favorite gray or my favorite color is white. I thought I’d put together all the colors I recommend (and use) in one blog post now.
If you’ve followed me over the years, I only recommend and work with transition colors that have an almost perfect balance of warm and cool tones. If you’re new to my blog and my Paintcolor palettes, transition colors are the safest colors to work with because they have a mix of warm and cool undertones, making them less fussy to work with and complimenting the other colors in the room. These transition colors are more reliable than other colors and work well in different lighting conditions.

So let’s show you why these colors are my favorite. I’ll also go into detail about why each of these colors work so well, so you can decide if one of these colors is right for your space. 🙂
Sherwin Williams Iron Ore Sw 7069 Ultimate Paint Color Review!
What is the most beautiful gray that is most versatile? This is probably the most frequently asked question from readers and clients, especially those looking for a color scheme for the entire home. Understandably, this is a popular question with thousands of shades of gray. My favorite gray and the color I recommend the most is Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams.
I call Repose Gray the perfect paint color because it’s a light, warm gray and an almost perfect balance of warm and cool undertones. There are no crazy shadows and the color always looks great in full natural and artificial light.
Repose is the number one color I recommend to readers and clients, and everyone reaches out to me and tells me how much they love this amazing color.
If you’re interested in learning more about Repose Gray and why it works so well, I’ve created a color spotlight on Repose here that highlights more information about this color.

Moonshine by Benjamin Moore is another fantastic gray I recommend. It’s a bit lighter and a bit cooler than Repose Gray (but still has good warmth) and is just as versatile as Repose.
Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams is my favorite furniture color that I use and recommend the most. Mindful is a shade darker than Repose and on the same color chart. You can see how beautiful it is in my craft room/office (this is the cabinet color and finish color). Silence on the wall.
Another fantastic gray for cabinets that I use and recommend a lot is Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore. It’s a bit darker than Mindful Grey, but it’s still balanced with the warm/cool tones I see all the time.
For the darkest grays often used in furniture, I’ve recommended Benjamin Moore’s charcoal Kendall for years, and it’s still one of my favorite colors. It’s a very dark gray with just the right amount of warmth.

There are so many amazing teal paint colors right now that I’m loving and experimenting with. I often recommend Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams and Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore for bathrooms. However, when someone asks for a nice blue/green color, I almost always put Benjamin Moore Beach Glass at the top of the list and tell them to try that color first.
If you’re looking for a cool blue/grey, my favorite is Solitude by Benjamin Moore. I recommend this color only in rooms without natural light; The bathroom, laundry room, and pantry, because it’s so cool, feel a little warm in the artificial light.
When it comes to navy, there are two colors that I almost exclusively use and recommend because they are always amazing. Benjamin Moore’s Marine Hale is simply one of the best marines ever. If you’re looking for a true Dark Navy, look no further than Hale Navy.

Another dark blue that I highly recommend is called Benjamin Moore’s Amazing. Gorgeous is the truest indigo color I could find. You can see that the color is slightly warmer than Hale Navy and has a slight purple base making it a true indigo.
While I wouldn’t add it to my “go to” palette, I still recommend Sherwin Williams’ Gibraltar. I especially recommend Gibraltar in rooms without natural light, as in these rooms the color becomes a beautiful dark gray/blue with artificial light. (I would never recommend this color for rooms with lots of natural light as it looks too sterile and cool).
Like dark blues, there are only two or three dark colors that I use regularly. My favorite shade of black is Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams.
Tricorn Black is not really a traditional solid resin black, but a resin black with a gray base. Again, I only recommend colors with a combination of warm and cool tones because they always work with all the other colors and undertones in the room. I’m not a fan of True Dark Black because it’s too harsh for me indoors, so I really like Tricorn. I believe every face color should have this balance.

I also always recommend Benjamin Moore’s Pressed and Faced Cast Iron because I find it to be a more traditional black and less harsh alternative. It’s really a great combination of black/very taupe with a little warmth in the base to make it one of the most versatile colors.
This door is a fantastic example of why I think cast iron is one of the best paint colors because even though it’s very dark, it has depth and the black isn’t too harsh.
Here’s another example of cast iron on a home island that I recently suggested paint colors for, and reimagine if that island is a solid, cool black. Cast iron brings enough warmth and gray to the base to complement the warm and cool tones of the room.
I saved the most difficult colors for last. I think white is the trickiest color because undertones are everything. If you don’t know how to choose colors according to the undertones, you risk choosing a white color with a pink or peach base, which can turn into a disaster. I have a great trick for instantly finding a white undertone if you want to see how I chose some free whites to recommend.
Paint Colour Review: Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron And Cheating Heart
There are only 3-4 bricks that I can almost recommend. The main white I use and recommend over other whites is Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White because it doesn’t have a strong undertone. For me it is the purest white and I think it is the best design and furniture color because it blends automatically with the colors and shades of the surrounding space.
In this house below, I recommended Decorator’s White for all the furniture and redecorating work inside the house. As you can see, it’s just a true white, not an off white.
Another white I use and recommend is called Benjamin Moore’s Frostine. I generally only recommend Frostine in rooms with little natural light (bathrooms, laundry rooms, closets, etc.).
Prostin has a very slight blue/green tint that prevents the white from appearing creamy in artificial light. If you have a very dark bathroom with no natural light, Frostine is the perfect vanity/cabinet color and looks brilliant white under this type of lighting.

This room below is a great example of why Frostine is such a great color in low light. As you can see, there is not much natural light in this lobby. Frostine was used for trims and trims and most whites look white in these lights, but Frostine looks bright white.
Although I don’t add it to my “go-to” palette today, I love Sherwin Williams Pure White and use it in rooms where we don’t want white, just a little warm gray.
So come on guys! These are my favorite colors. Just a reminder, if you fall in love with one of these colors, take care of yourself
