Sherwin Williams Super Paint Exterior Colors – The pandemic has given home health a whole new meaning, down to the color used inside. Sherwin-Williams has launched two new products: SuperPaint with Disinfection Technology and SuperPaint with Air Purification Technology. Disinfectant spray kills bacteria, while an air purifier can eliminate odors. These new offerings are in line with the company’s focus on health and well-being, including the new Living Well collection with eleven new color palettes.
“In 2020, we’ve been asking for a lot of our homes. Bedrooms have turned into classrooms, living rooms into gyms, and kitchens into meeting rooms,” said Sue Wodden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. “We are now more aware than ever of how these places affect us both physically and mentally.”

Cooktops can look elegant and save space, but they can also introduce more odors into a kitchen without a strong vent cover. Rick Watson, director of product information and maintenance for Sherwin-Williams, says remodeling professionals can use SuperPaint air cleaner on ceilings to reduce odors as they rise. Instead of trapping or masking odors, air purification technology actually changes odors at the molecular level into a water molecule and an inert gas to eliminate the odor.

SuperPaint Disinfectant Paint, on the other hand, works best on high-touch walls, panels and doors. The paint kills up to 99.9% of specific bacteria within two hours of direct contact for four years. Afterwards, Watson says homeowners can apply another coat of paint to restore its effectiveness. The paint is EPA-registered to kill bacteria such as Staphylococcus (Staphylococcus aureus), Escherichia coli (Escherichia coli) and MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) on painted surfaces.

In this review, I will cover both the interior and exterior versions of Sherwin Williams Super Paint. Interior Super Paint was one of the first paints I used twenty years ago when I started painting. I used this color exclusively for my business for a long time, until I ran into some problems with the interior version and switched to a different color.
This is not cheap paint. The full price per gallon of Interior Velvet at the time of this review update is $68. Due to regular sales at Sherwin Williams, you can easily purchase this paint at a lower price. I wouldn’t pay full price.
I would like to point out that the outer version of this paint is an excellent product for painting shapes and forms of houses. The color is very durable and covers well. The interior color is the one I had a problem with. Although there are many positive qualities with this color, you should also be aware of the negative ones.

Unlike the interior version, the exterior Super Paint has never given me a headache and I have used this paint on everything from siding and shutters to siding and garage doors. Prices start at $69 per gallon for a flat finish. I now use Duration exterior paint for most of my exterior painting projects, but the paint is expensive without the contractor’s discount. Exterior Super Paint is cheaper and lasts more than five years before it needs to be repainted.
Super Paint and Duration are two of Sherwin Williams’ most popular paints, with the Duration line being the more expensive of the two. Exterior paint is thicker and can be used on multiple surfaces. At the time of this review, exterior paint starts at a whopping $89 per gallon. Wait for a paint sale to get the best price. From experience I can say that the paint on the outside of my house holds up well. You get what you pay for.
Exterior Super Paint is a good option if you don’t want to spend the extra money on durability. It seems to me that both colors are overpriced without a discount. The paint is not as thick as Durer, but that can also be positive, as it allows moisture-prone surfaces to breathe better, instead of trapping moisture underneath.
I do not recommend using Interior Super Paint to paint the walls of your home. As I explained before, I have problems with surfactants (chemical strips) washing out and dyes separating from the paint during application. The color coverage is really good, but I personally would not use this product again in my painting projects when there are much better colors out there.

Most of the time I use Duration Interior for the walls, or I use Regal Select. Both paints are washable, low in volatile organic compounds and coated in several layers. I can also use all of these in the bathroom and not worry about surfactants washing out.
