I wasn’t even planning on painting the front door this weekend. After painting our fireplace (which I’ll share soon), I’ve been looking around our house and thinking to myself:
By the way, this is the fourth time I’ve painted our front door. I’ll share some of the colors above in a second, but first I want to share how I chose this color. It really was a coincidence. After deciding to paint the front door, I went down to the basement where I kept my paint and found a small can of this color that I had never used before. This is called color;
Faux Hydrangeas + Summer Door Basket
I bought paint at Lowes years ago and it was not the color I chose. It really was a rejection. You know how Lowes sometimes sells paint a customer can’t afford at a discounted price? It was one of those paints so I picked it up one day and didn’t use it until now.
I love it! This color has an undertone, which I think feels fresh. I think the color goes well with the exterior of our house. People always ask me what color our house is, but I really don’t know. It was painted this color before we moved.
I also painted the inside of the door, something I do every time I paint our door. I think that’s a good thing. I’ll share what it looks like inside another day.
I love painting our front door because it makes a huge difference in the look of our house and it doesn’t take a lot of time or paint.

And when we first moved into our house, the door was painted red, so this is our fifth front door color. Can anyone beat this?
P.S. If you enjoyed today’s post, I’d love it if you shared it on your social media accounts or pinned it on Pinterest.

Trend Meets Tradition
I’m excited to talk about one of my favorite paint colors, Benjamin Moore’s White Blue. Spoiler alert: I really like this shade, you get the idea
You can see right away when you walk into my house. After reading about the shade and looking at some pictures, I’m sure you’ll like it too.
Wythe Blue was introduced in 1976 by Benjamin Moore as part of the Historic Color collection. This beautiful shade mimics the timeless appeal found in traditional and modern homes as well as historic homes. It was even named “color of the year” by BM in 2012:
More versatile than you think, blue is a classic color. It’s universally attractive, never goes out of style, and is overwhelmingly voted the color of choice in North America. It animates the sea and the sky, calms us physically and represents faith and devotion. Because of blue’s impact on our world, we chose Wythe Blue (HC-143) as Benjamin Moore’s 2012 Color of the Year. It’s a beautiful, soothing tone that has a heritage element and provides a grounded root that provides comfort and stability. Benjamin Moore

If you look at the example, Benjamin Moore White Blue has shades of gray and green. However, once the paint is applied to your walls, depending on the lighting and other words, you will find that blues or greens or grays are very different, in both colors.
Wythe Blue reflects the gray of the room by choosing blue colors and furniture. If there is nothing in the room or not enough light to produce the color green, gray tones will also be produced.

White shades of green are present in the west-facing rooms, where the walls are bathed in natural light and yellow fabric. If you want those green tones, you’ll need to add something to help bring out the green, like white fixtures and flooring in a green bathroom. My kitchen faces west so it looks green!
Another way to see more green is when you mix a light blue with Wythe blue. Light blue often brings out the green tones in Wythe Blue. Also, the green colors are rich and visible at night.
Wythe Blue is a color that is neither too dark nor too light. It sits right in the middle of the Light Reflectance Value Index, a scale that measures absolute black to pure white on a scale of 1 to 100. . More tips from Benjamin Moore:
Also, Wythe Blue pairs well with many whites. You’d be hard-pressed to find a standard decorative paint that Wythe Blue doesn’t work well with in some style or fashion. I used it in my bathroom with Simply White OC-117 and it goes really well together.

This shade of blue can work well as a solid color. Bright reds pop in rooms decorated with Wythe Blue. Yellow and green are complemented more than usual by Wythe Blue in the room. Believe it or not, tangerine can also be combined wonderfully with the shade.
Wythe Blue is richer than other blues and can be used in many rooms of the home. It’s fun enough for kids’ rooms, cool enough for the kitchen, and neutral enough for the great outdoors. Here are some of my favorite examples from around the web.
This first bedroom with Wythe Blueis is clean and tidy. This image of a turquoise house shows how the shade of green can be conveyed or confused.
I don’t like Wythe Blue bathroom! In fact, this is the color I chose when I recently redid my daughter’s bathroom.
