Bathroom Wall Light Fixtures With Electrical Outlet – When it comes to interior lighting, bathroom lighting probably gets the least consideration of all the rooms in the house. The average customer we meet doesn’t think to invest there – save it for the living room or the kitchen, they say. I have seen many bathrooms with inadequate mirrors or vanity lighting. Usually, there is only one light fixture in the ceiling that should do it all.
The best lighting for your bathroom can help create a place to relax and recharge. And when it’s done right, the payoff is huge. After all, this is the room where you start and end your day.

A good lighting plan is a series of layers – put enough light where it is needed for bathing, shaving or putting on make-up, for example, while other light sources increase the general condition of the room.
Indoor Lighting And Interior Lights
Vanity lighting receives the main consideration, because these devices are worked with the most difficult lighting of the head and face for care. A common mistake people make is placing the recessed ceiling directly above the mirror. These shadows on the face, which complicate the daily rituals of care.
Vertical fixtures or sconces mounted on either side of the mirror are best for providing uniform surface lighting.
But due to the size and position of some vanity mirrors, side lights may not be practical (mounting them directly to the mirror is still an option, but with more planning and cost). Only then do I offer a fixture for the top of the mirror. It should be placed 75 to 80 inches above the floor and, like all vanity lighting, have at least 150 watts — preferably in a fixture at least 24 inches high so the light is washed, which is the same for hair and face.
The shower is a secondary task-lighting area. In small bathrooms, if the fixture has a clear glass door, a dedicated fixture may not be necessary. Otherwise, we recommend an embedded light with a mirror lens (yellow plastic). Similar recessed fixtures work well in a freestanding tub or toilet.

This “fillable” lighting works as a substitute for natural light. This is often provided by a central fixture, usually a ceiling light located above. Encourage customers to think more creatively in their choices by suggesting they consider a lamp or chandelier. Another option is “cove lighting” – string lights hidden behind a molding dropped a few centimeters below the height of the ceiling – which add soft light around the room.
A small recessed spotlight intended for decorative art or a beautiful powder basin creates another layer of light in the bathroom. In the same way, a built-in shower fixture can be angled (most can be tilted up to 35 degrees during installation) to highlight beautiful tiling or fixtures and make them shine.
To eliminate shadows under the chin, eyes and cheeks, fixtures should be mounted on either side of the vanity mirror (or above the mirror if it is large), 36 to 40 inches apart – Mr.
The center of each fixture should be approximately at eye level, or approximately 66 inches above the floor. It can also guarantee the lightness of the whole face for maintenance.
How High To Place Your Bathroom Fixtures
Bright white light tends to make skin tones look the most accurate. Halogen bulbs set the gold standard. Low-voltage variants (with a built-in transformer that converts 120 volts to 12 volts) are more compact, and the small bulb gives a nice glowing effect.
Halogen bulbs cost a few dollars more than standard incandescents, but can last three times as long. Many have screw bases; those labeled media-base (MB) are shaped like standard incandescents, so they fit most fixtures. The latest compact fluorescent bulbs also offer an excellent color image and are up to 10 times more efficient than regular incandescent bulbs.
These are the lighting designer’s best friend because they give total control over the lighting, and thus the mood, of the room. In a very small space like a powder room, vanity lighting can also provide all-in-one task, ambient and accent lighting. In addition, dimmers save energy. The total savings depends on how dimmed the bulb is, but one dimmed just 10 percent will last twice as long as a bulb at full brightness.
Today’s dimmers work for any type of light source, although you have to know what to ask for. A 120-volt incandescent or halogen light source will require an incandescent light source, while low voltage and fluorescent fixtures will require their own compatible light sources. Sometimes the dim bulbs vibrate as the filament vibrates. Changing to a lower wattage bulb (with a smaller filament) should reduce or eliminate the noise.
Bathroom Light Fixtures & Vanity Lights
Paying attention to the aesthetics of the bathroom does not reduce the importance of safety. Electricity and water are always deadly companions, and nothing mixes closer to the bathroom. Always consult a certified electrician before tackling even the simplest lighting project.
The National Electrical Code requires all new outlets to have GFCI, ground fault circuit breakers; new ones can be adapted to existing outlets. Even with a GFCI, stand-alone accessory lamps should not be located near a sink or tub.
Fixtures that are a certain distance from the tub or shower (usually 6 feet, although local codes vary) must be “wet” or “shower location” marked. Don’t confuse this with the less stringent “wet location” rating given to most outdoor lighting.
