Alabaster from Sherwin Williams is a great alternative to brick. This color reads in a different way, so it is a good choice to use in various outdoor settings. Our designers used the stone shown above in the house, alabaster on the sides and sides. Going this route, we recommend adding dimension and depth with black tones, such as Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black. Tricorn Black was used on the car doors and overhead doors. Alabaster is not white, and tricorn is not black, so it is not completely black and white. This combination of stones and colors is innovative and offers a little more history.
This combination of warm and earthy colors brings a sense of unity to the front of the house. These colors complement each other, not contrast. The Olympic Mountain features brickwork, Sandy Hook Gray adorns the soffit and fascia, and Simply White trim highlights the exterior.
A brick house with a colored clay roof looks fresh and modern when the bricks are painted beige or white. Such a unique house will be the center of the exterior design and the red stone can compete with it. One of our designers for beige is Grant Beige by Benjamin Moore. In this example, the tone of Sherwin Williams’ Urban Bronze provides the depth of contrast between the light beige and the full color of the ceiling. (One of our favorite Sherwin Williams exterior paint colors is Urban Bronze for 2021, because of its simplicity.) Pro tip: Floors and ceilings made of aluminum or copper look good with clay roof and beige color.

If you are all about unpainted stone, you have the option of using liwash. This beautiful product gives the house a feeling of antiquity and history, with the bricks still visible. In the house above, our designers recommend the Classico liwash from ROMABIO. The color with warm colors complements the warm stone it represents. And this home has many beautiful design elements that stand out in color. Here, the designer cites the tones of Benjamin Moore and Natural Choice and Porpoise, painted by Sherwin Williams in Iron Mountain.
You may not need our approval, but as you can see from our reviews so far, we often recommend using Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore colors in the same design! When painted on properly prepared brick, both versions work well. The seapearl looks beautiful on the stone because the face of the stone is white and the cracks between the white stones look gray, giving it a cave-like appearance. In this home, Sherwin Williams’ painted concrete with steel accents and Benjamin Moore’s onyx accents provide richness, depth and contrast, bringing out the brown color of the seapearl.
If you keep the original red brick, the gray color can give a stylish look. This is one of the best stone and color wheels in our book. In fact, there are a lot of black rocks, and grizzlies can often be seen from a distance. Painting Sandy Hook Gray by Benjamin Moore will create these tones.
With little color, the elements work as complementary elements rather than competitors. This home has brick additions, shaker siding, and natural stone — all beautiful in their own right, but the colorful curtains make it look a little boring to the eye. In this situation, a good stone wheel and color can make all the difference. By painting the stone in Benjamin Moore’s neutral Revere Pewter, our designer allowed the details of the stone to come through. Iron Mountain designs the house in an impressive way – notice how flat the front is compared to the back? The onyx color on the block provides a pop of contrast.
Exterior Paint Colors
Does this painting group look familiar? The trio is the same as number 8 above, but the way they mix with the bricks is completely different. Revere Pewter, Iron Mountain and Onyx are three unique materials that work well. These colors help to define the architectural style of the house without being boring, even with the red stone and light base.
Brick and mortar is not for everyone. If you are looking to update your brick with a new white color, alabaster is the place to go.
