I’m not talking about the super shiny brass we’ve had on our doorknobs or light fixtures for years, but the warmer, varied shades of brass that look great on light fixtures and accessories. 🙂

I tried to get rid of the shiny brass fixtures in our last house. I don’t mind the look now, but warm copper tones are more realistic.
I’ve been wanting to compare copper and gold spray paint for a long time, so over the past few months I’ve put together six metallic spray paint options:
I thought there would be a bigger selection, but these are the six I found after many visits to several hardware stores. Rust-oleum and Krylon are both good quality spray paints that last a long time!
Most have “gold” in the title, but I think it’s more of a copper tone. However, I believe the gold and copper spray paint are interchangeable.

I decided to test it so you can see the colors next to each other. I think it really shows the slight difference between each spray paint.
I worked on three types of surfaces — bare wood scraps, varnished wood and metal, and cut them with tape. I have never used a primer on wood or bare metal.
I’d like to show you the results in the sun and indoors — remember that your light source will change color! A heating lamp (usually yellowish) changes the appearance of spray paint like wall paint.
There are, of course, many shades of this metallic color, just like in real life. For this experiment, I was looking for the most “classic” brass tones.

Side note — I hate spray cans like this. I always find that the nozzle doesn’t spray and it’s not very comfortable to use.
Next, Rust-oleumMetallic Gold, which is bright and shiny, is a nice paint that leans more towards shiny gold:

It also runs smoothly. This nozzle is very nice and the spray paint is coated very well.
I love the nozzle — application is so easy! I don’t like how it’s coated, and the color isn’t gold or bronze, at least compared to the others.
I want to try my three favorites, and I have a few metal birds hanging around forever. I probably use it somewhere in my wardrobe.

I think the name is interesting — I’ll translate it. 🙂 The name champagne suits light colors better, and warm gold suits dark copper/gold tones. It looks more like an antique copper color to me.

It’s not a flat tone, but instead has a shimmery nuance that neither has. It’s a beautiful copper paint color!
