Benjamin Moore Pale Oak Review & Inspiration Ring’s End
Classic Gray is definitely a warm gray with a neutral undertone, maybe a little pink. As you can see from the comparison below, it’s not as attractive as Shoji White pink, Gray Owl green or the darker shades of Repose Grey.
What does LRV mean? LRV is the light reflectance value of the paint color on a scale from 0 (pure black) to 100 (pure white). Basically, colors with an LRV rating closer to 0 are darker, while colors closer to 100 are lighter.
Classic Gray paint has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 74. This means it is more off-white than true grey. If you place it in a room with a lot of natural light, it can appear soft white. But when you pair it with sheer white trim, you can tell the difference.
If you want your spaces to look clean, soft and calm, you can’t go wrong with BM Classic Grey. Benjamin Moore recommends this color:

If gray isn’t your color, check out this section of the blog to find the perfect paint color. In the world of white paint colors, Benjamin Moore Classic Gray (OC-23) is a soft gray that sounds white in rooms where white paint doesn’t look right. It’s a light warm gray with subtle green that isn’t visible and shimmers purple in cooler light. Sometimes it looks warm, almost beige, while other times it looks like a bright warm gray.

Our Review Of Classic Gray By Benjamin Moore
Use off-white if your room is too dark or if there is a lot of green outside. A great solution for updating the interior with a restrained Tuscan design.
It’s a great color for any exposure – north, south, east or west. It is clear and usually appears white. In a dark, north-facing room, it flickers a little gray, and in east- and west-facing rooms, it stays on at all times of the day. In south-facing rooms, it looks gorgeous, soft white.
The challenge with the seemingly contrasting white paint color is that it takes a lot of light to make the white stand out. A dark room will have a lot of shadows, so the white will be gloomy. Another challenge is that white leather reflects everything: the grass, the neighbor’s paint color, pink flowers, even evergreens. Bright white reflects all the colors around them. Classic gray neutralizes all surrounding colors.
One more thing…we do not recommend pairing Classic Gray or any other Benjamin Moore paint with Sherwin-Williams, Behr or any other manufacturer. Paint colors are hard to replicate, especially white is even harder to fix. You can read more about paint matching here.

Pure whites like Chantilly Lace (BM OC-65), Oxford White (BM 869) and Extra White (SW 7006) look clean and fresh when paired with classic greys. Stay away from darker off-whites like dove or creams like swiss coffee as there isn’t enough contrast and the combination looks wrong.
In a bathroom or room with high ceilings, you can paint the ceiling a classic gray like the walls in the bedroom below. This bedroom was a challenge due to the eastern exposure and the green or
