What Sherwin Williams Color Is Closest To Revere Pewter – Sherwin Williams New Gray is one of my favorite gray colors! Take a tour of our living room to get a sneak peek at what Anne Gray looks like in our home and see how it compares to other similar grays.
Shortly after we bought our house, we painted the same dark gray as our living room and dining room, Sherwin Williams Keystone Gray. While I love this rich green color in our dining room, it’s too dark for our living room without natural light. So after years of trying (and failing…) I decided to paint with a lighter shade of green. I narrowed it down to these four finalists,

And finally he chose the new Sherwin Williams gray. I’m very happy with my paint color choice and every time I share pictures of my bedroom I get a lot of questions about it, so think about what I like and how it compares to other grays. I want to give you a little tour of our hotel along the way! (Includes links to articles, full disclosure statement included)
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter: A Complete Color Review
I tend to choose greens over grays or grays because they are the perfect golden color – the beehive colors add some lovely warmth, while the coolness of the gray tones keeps the colors from looking dull and muddy. Anu Gray is a medium green color that has depth and richness without being too dark, which is exactly what I was looking for when choosing colors for my bedroom. Here’s an image from our space – it really shows how the new gray varies with the amount of light it receives:

If you look closely at the painted areas closest to the floor, you’ll see some purple – that’s because it’s the area that gets the most light from the window across from the fireplace, which has a cool tone because it faces north. window The height of the walls and most of the rest of the house look like true green. You can also see that the colors appear darker and richer in the darker areas, such as the right side of my black cabinet.
Looking at the same space another day, you can see that the color on the top of the wall is still different than the bottom, but the overall color looks a little grayer because less of the Northern Lights entered the space that day. . :

Other than the purple tone you see in a small part of our room (which happens with any gray), I don’t see any other distinct tones with Anu Gray in normal lighting – so good. No more, a warm neutral that isn’t too dark.
This place has come a long way since we moved in! Do any of you remember this scene?
On the wall opposite the fireplace is our window seat, one of Hope’s favorite places to see what’s going on outside – I’m sure I’ll miss that sweet little face:

It’s always interesting to look back and see how far the space has come – sometimes changes happen so slowly over time that you don’t realize the impact until you start. See where it all started!
I painted a new gray on the flat edges of the Sherwin Williams period interior paint. I use flat or fabric on all the walls in our house (closer to flat panel but more wipeable) because it hides wall imperfections better than high gloss paint and is easier to touch up. Paint stores often recommend using egg wash on walls because the high gloss makes it easier to clean the walls of fingerprints, dirt, etc. But what I’ve found is that when you rub something off the eggshell wall, it takes the shine off the area you’ve rubbed it on, making it clear that you’ve cleaned the area. If you want to touch up the color after a few years, an oval shape will be more accurate to the touch than a flat or round shape.
Our bedroom trim is painted Benjamin Moore Cloud White Satin. There are many whites that work with new gray decor, but my personal favorite is using warm white on warm wall colors. For more details on other popular warm whites see my post on whites, two of my favorites are Benjamin Moore White Dove and Plain White.
If you’re thinking about using Anne Gray in your home, you’re probably discussing it with a lot of other gray paint colors, so I thought I’d compare Anne Gray and six other gray colors that people love. Always decide between (according to Google) To show you a true comparison, I bought 12″ x 12″ square paint samples of six different colors that are sold. Six of our new gray walls:

These are actual painted swatches (not computer generated colors like you get from a paint store) so they give you a real feel for the color without the hassle of getting a box of swatches. You can find a sample of the new gray.
When deciding on a paint color, it’s important to test it in your space. It doesn’t matter if it looks great in another room of your house, but if you saw it in a friend’s house as the perfect color or if someone told you a certain color. This is “always”. It works. Every room’s lighting is unique, and paint colors can make a big difference to the look of that space.
Not only should you test the rugs in the room you’re painting, but walk around the room and look at them at different times of the day. The samplers are good because they stick to the wall for sampling, but you can pull them up and stop them anywhere else in the house. So you can try them on a glossy wall:
Then move them to a dark wall and see how they look on both sides of the room.

A word of caution about the grays I’m sharing: Like Anu Grey, other grays in the same color family tend to show a purple tone in certain lighting, especially in rooms with a lot of northern light. (Most houses, especially if you face south, will not see purple). If you see purples you don’t like when you change a wall, try going ahead and painting more pinks/yellows on it.
Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray (SW 7044) is like Annie Gray – it’s hard to tell where one color starts and another compared to another color. Both have an LRV of 47 and look like the same “lightness”, but the amazing gray only has a few drops of black, so it’s a bit darker. Amazing Gray also has a greener touch than New Grey. You can try the amazing gray.
Sherwin Williams Versatile Gray (SW 6072) is another color that is very similar to Annaw Grey, but is lighter than LRV 48. Of the many grays, it is a stunning gray and slightly redder than Anneau Grey. You can get a variety of gray samples.
Sherwin Williams Plus Gray (SW 7029) sits next to Anneau Gray in the color palette. They are very similar in tone, but a bit lighter than the OK Gray 60’s LRV. If you love the fresh gray color but want something a little lighter and brighter, then this is a great choice. You can model the agreed gray.

River Pewter (HC-172) is a Benjamin Moore paint color that has been gray on mine for years. A little backstory on that… a while ago my sister took me in a panic because she was making her first coat.
