How To Clean Inside Of Fireplace Glass – It’s time to turn on the stove – in fact, the family room has been there many times at night. The gas fireplace is great – it used to be wood burning (at home if you can believe it!).
But in the past there was a gas inlet with a windshield. After a few years, I noticed that the inside of the glass was getting dirty, but I didn’t think there was anything I could do about it. I learned how to clean the inside of a fireplace mantel years ago and it comes in very handy, especially this time of year. I always clean the glass in early fall before lighting the fire for the season.

The first step is to make sure the pilot light is off! I don’t think it’s important to open with it but since you’re going to clean the glass and all, I suggest you remove it.
This one I can’t remove without removing it, but it gives me access to the back so I can clean the grill more easily.
There are two clamps inside and on both sides of the fridge. You have to bend down and find them and then you release the clamp:

And then you can pull the whole glass and remove it. To top it all off is the clamp that sits under the top grill:
So if you just pull on the glass it should come off easily. Be warned, it’s heavier than you think, but totally manageable.
You can do it with or without a mirror – making it easy to clean in the pool or with an external pipe.
You want to keep the front of the glass so you can clean it. I’m trying to use something that doesn’t have chemicals – I’m sure everything will be fine but I’m worried about gases/flaming chemicals. You know, explosions and stuff. Nothing important:

Use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to clean stains on the outside of brick or stone masonry on the stove surface.
In closing; You can clean your fireplace glass. While many commercially formulated products do a good job of removing fog from windshields; There are products around the house that can do the job well, especially with a little elbow grease.
Stay Safe With These Gas Fireplace Maintenance Tips
On the inside, start by using a wire brush to remove and loosen creosote buildup around the metal walls of the glass doors.
You can clean your stove glass with distilled white vinegar; And adding a little baking soda will create a paste that can help loosen and remove stubborn stretch marks. Use old newspaper to clean the inner glass. Be careful that using harsh chemicals can damage the glass with high temperatures. After removing major impurities; Repeat the process using only vinegar and old newspaper. The process can be repeated with vinegar on the exterior glass door.
Cleaning the glass before using the fireplace can reduce the effort required to keep the glass door of the fireplace clean. After years of use, gas stoves produce a white, sparkling mist on the glass. This white mist makes it hard to see the flames, destroys any illusion of seeing a real fireplace, and really kills the mood. Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but it’s annoying.
The good news is that you may be able to clear it. To clear white smoke from the glass of a gas stove, you can start by purchasing a product designed specifically for it, such as White Off. I picked some up at the Minnetonka Fireside Hearth & Home store for about $8. It’s a small bottle, but no matter how many times you use this stuff, it’s a lifetime supply.

The next step is to remove the glass from your gas stove. This is probably the hardest part, and every gas stove is different, so I can’t give much advice here. You can try to find the manual online by searching for your model number – just open the bottom access panel, clear some dust and you should be able to find the model number. Of course, you’ll want to turn off the gas on your stove first and let the glass cool before removing it if necessary.
After removing the glass, place it on a flat surface, such as the floor or table. You can put a towel under the right circumstances, but I chose to live on the edge while cleaning mine.
Then follow the instructions on the bottle; Rinse well, pat dry, towel dry, etc…repeat as needed.
When you’re done, the glass should be fine and all the white stuff should be gone. If the glass is still dirty after this step, there may be a solution. Have you ever noticed how condensation forms on the glass on a gas stove when you turn on the pilot light after it’s closed?
