Artist Loft Acrylic Paint Color Chart – As I mentioned in my previous post, I had never used acrylics before and working with them was very different from the pencils, paints and watercolors I was used to. The hardest part for me is that the acrylic medium dries quickly and is permanent – once it’s down and dry, it’s impossible to change!
I didn’t know how matte medium, pencil would work on the substrate I was using, and how my specific acrylic colors would interact, so I made a color chart incorporating different textures before I started painting. I know some colors are more opaque than others, but I don’t know how well my pencil work will show, so I added a column to show you. The columns are:

I decided it was best to stick to the same color scheme with red to green colors. However, most of my painting was a matter of trial and error, and I used several layers of paint in places – to darken or to mask the color. For example, when I finish my green layers, if I add the yellow to the blue-green, it doesn’t look right.

There was nothing to do but add brown layers – it looked good in the end. That’s when I decided I needed to go through all of this (except the quote) and redefine my writing. I am very pleased with the results. There are a few patches where I used insufficient matte medium or acrylic bonded and dried, but now you know to remember things like that in the future. My vision for this whole project was not a learning experience, but a work of excellence.
Although I have a rough idea of the range of colors I use in my interior, I make re-decisions about what to put in my space. Once my husband saw me taking time and suggested that I remember the old monks who sat for hours creating illuminated books.
And then, it doesn’t look new the way it was built; Eye strain is nothing new; It is not raw or sticky. On the contrary, it gives the impression of the comfortable maturity of a century or two… But it was designed and built in the good work of the old days, in its true spirit, a part of it. Prepared and cultivated in this way, it seems to have taken on the spirit of a more primitive habitat. The house is not a replica of an old building, although it embodies the general characteristics of the old buildings in its neighborhood …. The whole house has that quality – in my opinion, the most valuable house or any part of it. . may have – rest and peace. In some mysterious way you will be greeted with joy, respect, relaxation for the mind and body, a great satisfaction for the eyes and mind… immediately to practice!

Take your ruler and measure your colored paper so you have one square inch of space for each area. I also left an inch of space around the edge for the side and top edges where I wrote the color names. I made my squares one inch each, but you can make the squares as small or as large as you like!
Mark each of the teams on the left side and the top edge. As shown in the example of the image below, each side is marked with the same color in the same order.
Next, draw a color space next to each color name as shown in the image below. This is used to remember what the color looks like next to the color name.
We start by drawing colored paper boxes with diagonal lines in each color. So the first frame is filled with cadmium yellow, the next frame is filled with cadmium red, and so on and so forth.

Now comes the fun part of creating the color card. You can really start mixing colors! At the cadmium red dot on the top edge, the cadmium red and ultramarine blue blend as they descend to ultramarine blue.
Do this for each color. However, you will notice that each color combination creates two sets. So every time you mix cadmium + ultramarine blue, mix a second time on the other side of the diagonal line.

Because it doesn’t make much sense to mix the same color twice in the same way. First they create a mixture of lighter and then darker colors. Look at the image below and see how the left side of the color card is lighter and the right side is darker.
Also, place your primary colors three times. Horizontal once with the first top row of squares. Once vertically in the first row on the left, then once diagonally and in the middle. To clarify, when I say primary colors, I mean the colors you use to write the names.
Set these colors to three different values. On the left, the primary colors become lighter in value. In the middle, the diagonal line will be its average value. So the colors at the top of the top will be the darkest value. This Creating a Color Chart section will help you understand tonal values and how they are created.
The color mixing paper used in this article is made from watercolor. However, no matter what media you use, the principles are the same. Whether it’s acrylic, oil, gouache, or something else!
