My parents wanted a dresser for the apartment and since they rent we wanted to spend as little as possible on a good dresser that will work and look good! After considering different Ikea wardrobes for storing clothes, we decided on the Ikea Hemnes 8 drawer wardrobe. From the Hemnes color range, we chose white to be perfect for the corner!

It will help to have a larger workplace to build the Hemnes 8 drawers, as there is more space and equipment to prepare. Tim built a closet in the living room because there is not as much space as in the bedroom.
Ikea will include all the tools needed to assemble the Hemnes chest of drawers, except for the Phillips head and the hammer. We use a hammer to tap wooden dowels and nails.
A very useful tool for assembly that will make construction faster and easier is the use of a ratchet screwdriver, which is used for all furniture assembly work. This is a great tool to use for many home projects!
Another tool that can be used to speed up the building process is an allen wrench instead of the allen key that comes with the Ikea box.

One person can do this, but it usually takes two people to stand in front of the cabinet and turn it on.
When putting the back on the dress, first mark the center of the dress and then use the picture from the packaging to draw a straight line. The reason for marking the center of the dresser is so you know exactly where the hammer is on the center beam.
After creating your drawers and seeing what supplies you need, you can stop and organize the rest of each drawer first to make them work. After identifying the drawers, the process of creating each subsequent drawer becomes faster.
We were surprised to see the drawer sides were real wood, not particle board. This is better than expected!

It took about 2 hours to build the cabinet and another 1-2 hours to build the 8 drawers.
Clothes are collected in the living room, where there is a lot of work space, and then transferred to the last place in the bedroom before the drawers are put in (so that it does not become too heavy).
After using it for over 6 months, my parents still love the Hemnes and think it’s a good value! They were amazed at how much clothing could fit in the size 8 drawer and loved how it fit perfectly in the corner. All wardrobes are stable, but the drawers are not as good as expected. His only complaint was that one of the drawers didn’t close as usual and sometimes he had to force his way into it. Hemne’s quality is worth considering the price of $279 and definitely a good choice for the bedroom. at a low price!
