If the color is too thick, it will take 4 or 5 seconds to disappear. Too thin and it will disappear immediately.

There are a variety of casting media that can be used with acrylic paint. Casting agents are simple additives used to extend paints to help change their consistency without sacrificing their bonding properties (think dry plastic).
For the purposes of this article, we will focus on the three easiest and cheapest casting media: Elmer’s Glue-All, Flood Floetrol, and water.
Elmer’s Glue-All is just that, glue. The glue is white in liquid form, but dries transparent. It also has a very close and strong quality when dry. This, along with being cheap and generally affordable, is the average casting quality you should be looking for as a color printer.
Flood Floetrol can be found at most hardware stores in the paint department. This product is designed to be used on paint to reduce brush marks and to thin the paint slightly for use with paint processors. It also has binders like the emulsion used in acrylic paints and will dry hard and strong.

More expensive liquid acrylics can be mixed at high ratios in paint mixers, typically 4:1 or higher, while cheaper liquid acrylics, such as Artist’s Loft, are should maintain a ratio of 2:1.
Craft paint is basically a cheaper version of acrylic paint that is less pigmented. We recommend reducing the ratio to 1:1 and using a mixture of glue, increasing the ratio of glue to water with 70% glue with 30% water or 75% glue always with 25% water.
Why I Quit Acrylic Pouring
If you keep a medium ratio with a higher color, your color will be healthier and will be very dull compared to other colors prepared with the recommended ratio.

You will find that many artists choose to use filtered or distilled water for acrylic casting. The reason for this is to reduce the changes caused by microbes in the image.
Mold and mildew can develop if the paint dries slowly or in areas with high humidity in the air. Any mixed dyes you save for later use will dilute the unwanted substances in tap water faster.
It is not recommended to store mixed colors for a few weeks, even in an airtight container.
The last tip we want to give when mixing acrylic paints is to measure your size, at least for the few paintings you do.
