Are you surprised at how many white colors are available? There are hundreds of them, and while most look white on walls, subtle shades can show up on large surfaces, so it’s important to do a little research and sample before painting a room.

Benjamin Moore’s whitest colors are Chantilly Lace and Super White. They have the least tone and therefore look whiter than others.
Most every white has some shade. Warmer whites have red, yellow and orange tones. Cooler whites have green, blue and purple tones.
I’m glad you asked! Did you know that if the paint is not pre-mixed at the paint factory, at least a few drops of paint are added to it at the paint store? I worked in our family paint shop for over 30 years and can attest to that.
You will be surprised by the colors that your white and neutral colors are made up of. But don’t worry, this formula has been used for decades and is always clear.
Benjamin Moore Simply White Paint Color
The Benjamin Moore paint machine has 16 different colors. Shade variations are limitless and determine the tone of your color.
For example, a drop of yellow or red oxide will give your white color a warm tone. A drop of black, blue or green creates a cool tone. More drops and more colors affect the depth and tone of the color.
LRV, or light reflectance value, is a number assigned to paint colors that indicates the percentage of reflected light, or basically how bright it appears on the wall. The scale ranges from 0 (absorbs all light) to 100 (absorbs no light or reflects 100%). Whiter and lighter colors have a high LRV because they reflect more light, and darker colors have a low LRV because they reflect less light and absorb more light.
Below are examples of cool and warm white. Note that it still looks almost white on the wall. Here they look darker because they are on a white background. This is one of the reasons why it is important to look at larger samples and test them whenever possible.
Chantilly Lace By Benjamin Moore
Cool white colors are perfect for southern rooms. why? These rooms get a lot of direct natural light and warm tones from the sun. White with a cool undertone balances the natural warm undertones resulting from the southern view.
East and north facing rooms do not get as much warm natural light as south and west facing rooms. To balance out a cooler, darker room, try a warm white.
Keep in mind that each color will look different depending on factors such as the time of day, cloud cover, and whether or not there are large shade trees near the house. That’s all the more reason to try out your color options before making a final decision.

White Dove By Benjamin Moore In A Real Home
There are dozens of beautiful shades of white, but these are Benjamin Moore’s most popular shades of white right now:
If you are painting, I recommend a few products to get the best finish, starting with a quality paint. With good paint, you get better coverage, which means you don’t have to apply as many coats (or buy as much paint).
Quality paint also has a smoother finish because it is made from finely ground solids. With Benjamin Moore, you can usually choose between what I call “good, better, and best” price points. If possible, use “better” or “best” Check out my list of supplies I use for professional paint jobs here:

Benjamin Moore Classic Gray Paint Colour Review
Now let’s take a look at Benjamin Moore’s most popular off-white paint colors, in no particular order.
Decorator White is a color that has been around for decades and never goes out of style. This has been Benjamin Moore’s standard white for years. It has a cooler gray color and looks beautiful in this bathroom. It goes well with the blue ceiling and dark floor.
Another classic Benjamin Moore color for decades, China White is also very neutral and works well with the black doors and brick floors in this entry. It is considered a very cool white.
Benjamin Moore’s 2016 Color of the Year Simply White has just a few drops of color for a warmer tone. Here you can see some other rooms painted in this popular shade:
Benjamin Moore Cloud White
Atrium White has a slightly warmer tone, but still looks white on the wall. It is a great color for north and east facing rooms as it brings out warm tones.
For a warmer color, consider Cloud White. It has a very faint cream color and a warm, cozy white that looks great with the rich red and gold in this living room.
For a lightly chilled white, try Icicle. It is a great color to use in a west or south facing room and will go well with almost any color interior design.
Mountain Peak White has a subtle warm undertone and is perfect for an east or north facing room. It looks beautiful in this living room with a gray sofa and a light neutral floor.
Benjamin Moore Simply White 5 Things To Know!
As the name suggests, Ice Mist is a cool white that works well in rooms that get a lot of afternoon sun, but not the gentle morning sun. Blue doors and gray trim continue the cool color scheme of this minimalist entry.
If you want to cool a room exposed to late afternoon sunlight, use white paper on the walls. It has a shade of gray and perfectly complements the dark wood floor and black furniture and windows in this dining room.
Another white with gray undertones, Pure White looks perfect with black, charcoal, blue and contrasting colors like red or orange.
Super White is Benjamin Moore’s purest white. It’s not too cold or warm, but it has almost no tone. If you want a color that goes with everything and doesn’t clash with anything, it’s super white.
Benjamin Moore Cloud White Review
Shy White is a very warm light gray tone. It’s whiter than white, but not quite beige or tan. It has enough color to contrast with the white finish and will work well with any color accent.
Mmmm, mascarpone! This color is a very light creamy white. It has some paint spots, but the appearance is still white. It looks perfect with the soft blue, green and silver accents in this dining room.
Swiss Coffee is another warm gray white. It looks white unless you hold something white next to it. Carrera marble counters look great in this kitchen.
Chantilly Lace is a crisp and fresh white. It’s a white color that goes with almost everything. It looks perfect on the wall in this modern farmhouse dining room.
Our Favorite Neutral Paint Colors — Moore House
I painted our living room White Dove and I love it. It’s warm white and fades away
With whatever I give. Our white curtains and oak floor are from the 1960s and look great with White Dove. You can see more of our living rooms here:
Don’t you like the name of this white color? Veil Priodas comes in a shade of gray and looks stunning in the bathroom above with dark blue lower walls and accents.
This room looks fresh and interesting. Red, black and blue accents work beautifully with the slightly warm tones found in White Opulence.
Traditional Paint Colors
The sound of this color makes me think of a cool breeze. White Wisp has a soft gray color and looks beautiful in a bedroom or any western or southern facing room. The warm natural textures of rugs, baskets and benches and blankets make this bedroom a beautiful space.
Winter Snow has a clean, cool and refreshing look with a slight gray undertone. The woven leather chairs in this living room warm up the room beautifully. Like a fireplace, of course.
I hope you get a good idea of how this color will look on the wall. Always look at actual color swatches and experiment with colors before making a decision.
