We thought we knew exactly what color we wanted. It’s a dark blue, the same color you always see in your house. But when things really went wrong, I started to question the indigo plans of our house. The house we love has thick, bright white siding. I was worried the indigo would look terrible next to our brown decorative windows and red roof. And painting the window decorations was not an option, nor did I add any window decorations (as much as I like).

We knew we were going to make our garage doors white and the trims white, so seeing a nice piece of white trim on our garage door warmed our hearts to the idea of navy blue. We were also able to get it by asking the landlord for inspiration for the color of the house.

Its color turns into a natural slate colored vinyl. Yes, I asked the vinyl company to send a sample of the matching paint to the paint shop. 😂 It ran out as soon as I got it. It looks very dark gray, not dark blue! This color matches perfectly with Benjamin Moore’s Flint. Hubster spent a lot of time at the paint shop bringing in over a million samples, including flint. We wore it and knew we had to go with Flint. This is an obvious winner!
The final decision is the front door. This color choice worries me a lot. When Painter Van left this morning we still hadn’t chosen a color, and we made the decision momentarily while our kid was serving a granola bar in the living room, bed and kitchen. Talk about making decisions while distracted!
The color we chose was ‘Blue’ by Benjamin Moore. (I can’t believe I was able to find a paint color that only has the name “blue” and not “Caribbean Passion Clouds.” 😬 You’ll have to wait and see.
