Looking for the perfect gray color for your cabinets and currently browsing over 50 of them? Are you leaning towards the slightly warmer end of things without jumping on the cream or beige bandwagon? Well, Revere Pewter might be the color you’re looking for!

But there are some very serious caveats, because not all gray is created equal, and Revere Pewter is definitely a step outside the standard gray box.
Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter The Perfect Paint Color?
Revere pewter is a warm gray, meaning it has some “dirt” or gray in it. Will your wardrobe ever see beige? Hell, it’s not that hot.
While it may look like a very true gray in some lighting, it actually has a green tint to it, and that’s where it gets tricky. Many popular white quartz countertops offer a violet hue rather than green. Some still have Revere Pewter partnered with them and enjoy playing the sub, while others (myself included) are wary of these partnerships.
Let’s take a look at Revere Pewter in my client’s kitchen with light Edgecombe gray on the walls…
This next photo shows how warm and green Reverend Pewter (darkening) is compared to the more stormy, cool look of Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray.
Benjamin Moore Pale Oak: A Warm Greige Paint Color
Revere Pewter has an LRV of 55.77, which means it’s a lighter color, but oh well, it’s closer to a light-medium dark because it has a little more flesh on its bones.
However, you may find that polish cabinet paint (SATIN finish) can make the color appear a little paler than expected, especially if you’ve seen Revere Pewter on the walls (in matte or eggshell finishes). For this reason, I often suggest darkening Revere Pewter to 25% or 50% – well, do samples of both. Painting kitchen cabinets is a big project; Well worth the time to sample!
In my own kitchen, I chose Revere Pewter for the cabinetry and darkened it about 25% just to give it a little more depth. I partnered with Cambria Britannica Warm which is amazing with Revere Pewter. I painted my bedroom/bathroom doors Revere pewter to create a visual connection and complement their look with the white trim.
As you can see in this next picture, I changed the layout of the cabinets, giving us more cabinet space!

But honestly, I regret choosing Revere Pewter for my cabinets and doors. Why? Well, first off, I regret most of my choices because I always do
‘ – the nature of the profession. But the real reason I regret Revere Pewter is that it limits the paint color options for my walls—that’s right, my walls.
Revere Pewter is a light to medium warm gray with green undertones. To have some contrast with the walls, my walls need to be white or white with shades to match the Revere Pewter (bananas). I change things at least once a year and even if I wanted to paint my walls a light or light-medium paint color – I can’t because Revere Pewter has already taken that spot. If I paint the walls a light dark color that isn’t pewter, they will fight each other. So I’m left with off white, off white or too dark (which I definitely don’t want for my whole open plan home).
In all the photos above, the walls are Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray (lightened to provide contrast), but I recently changed the walls to Benjamin Moore White Dove (due to lack of choice, although I still like the look).
The Best Gray Paint Colors
If you’re the type of person who picks one color and spends many moons on it, don’t let the above put you off. If you’re the type of person who likes something whether it’s trendy or not, and you’ll still love it even when it’s not trendy, then fill your big shoes! And hey, if you’re happy with warm white/off white walls or a medium to medium dark color, paint forever and ever Amen — my friend! But if you’re like me, you like to switch things up every now and then, Revere Pewter will seriously limit your options in the future.

White paint is definitely on trend for both interior and exterior walls, but that doesn’t make the choice any easier. Warm, cool, light, soft – where to start?

Benjamin Moore Wickham Gray
Dazzling White is exactly what they claim to be – Dazzling White. If you can’t picture it in your mind, think of my pasty white ginger drumsticks. Being bright doesn’t mean that whites lack fight (although some do), it just means that they have a more conventional (or actual) attitude towards whites than many other whites.
Benjamin Moore Simply White is a bright white. It has an LRV of 91.7 with a yellow tinge…
The dazzling white range starts at approx. 90 LRV and it goes up from there. Not sure what an LRV is? It basically tells you how light or dark a color is on a scale of 0-100, with 100 being white. In the paint world, white only goes up to 94, so with an LRV of 90 you’re looking at a beautiful but not perfect bright white paint color.
In bright white, the undertone you will find is yellow. And while there may be some midtones, since we’re dealing with such loud LRVs, it may be less noticeable, especially in bright rooms where you have a lot of light bouncing around the room (as shown above). This bright light amplifies and brightens the bright white even more, and we lose a lot of color in the process. Bright white undertones can also be less noticeable unless you compare them to true whites or vice versa.
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray {the Best Home Decor Paint Colors}
Benjamin Moore Super White is a dazzling white with an LRV of 89.09. Although it can look polished, especially in a well-lit room, it has a slightly cool blue tone.
