Benjamin Moore Stone Hearth Color – We’ve talked about neutral lights before, but they often need a little more depth to create the impact that comes from natural shadows in a space. We’ve rounded up 10 Benjamin Moore neutral midtones. Neutral gold if you will, not too light and not too dark! Whether it’s for the whole house or just one room, there are ten great options for any space.
The warmest mid-toned neutral is HC-80 Bleeker Beige. Although it could be considered a taupe beige, it has a touch of gray to create a soft and subtle beige. It pairs well with cream and white, as well as warmer, more traditional colors like red, olive, and burnt orange. It’s also a color that works well with mahogany or redwood furniture.

OC-15 Baby Fawn and HC-173 Edgecomb Gray are the same! Also found in white, this historic color is expertly incorporated into both. It’s one of the darkest whites you’ll find in the white section, but retains the light and midtones found in historic colors. Better name than OC-15 Baby Fawn, in my opinion, is the exact fleshy pink color you’d expect to see on a real baby. This is a very versatile greige. A soft, milky beige color that creates a combination of warmth and familiarity. These factors make house painting popular for resale.
Taupe Paint Colors
CC-490 Stone Hearth is a slightly darker neutral that leans slightly towards beige. That said, the direction of light and the amount of light in a space can have a significant effect on this color. In rooms facing north or east, you can draw on the gray side, while rooms facing north or west will emphasize warm beige. Conversely, high light shows a mid-tone depth, where colors can be significantly darker in dimly lit spaces. This neutral medium is an ideal background for all muted colors across the color spectrum as it doesn’t lean heavily towards green or red.
HC-172 Revere Pewter has long been Benjamin Moore’s most popular color. It’s tried and true neutrality to the core. This is a great combination of beige and gray to create a “greige”. With a touch of green (if present), it goes well with traditional browns and warm colors, but also goes well with warm gray. The combination of different colors in this paint allows it to appear grayer in cooler light, but absorbs heat in warmer light.
It is also part of the white color, this transitional gray, leans towards the lighter and neutral gray scale. Plus, with a relatively neutral tone, it creates a versatile color for the entire home. It complements the trendy gray color, maintaining a good balance with the traditional dark brown furniture. It’s a nice, subtle shade of gray that’s inviting yet cool in many spaces.
One of my favorite neutrals layered under a greige is CC-394 Boulevard. It has a soft pink shade with a hint of yellow which makes for a smooth combination. This gray cream goes well with other neutral and stronger colors. Whether it’s dark, light or even metallic furniture and accessories, it makes a beautiful background in different colors.
Holiday 2022 Paint Colors
This trending color is a combination of Boulevard Warmth CC-394 and Stormy Monday Color 2112-50 2017. It comes from gray brown, absorbs heat in brown, but leans mostly gray. This balanced color is also a neutral mid-tone for a transitional style that blends brown and gray perfectly. This purplish gray appears grayer in cool light and warmer in clear, warm temperatures, such as south- or west-facing areas.
Part of the 2017 color trends, this mid-tone gray is a calm, modern color for updated styles. A combination of blue and red tones creates a purple gray feel, but it is more harmonious with cooler gray and reddish brown. The combination of patterns and contrasts bring this color to life, while similar neutral layers such as white and light gray create a simple and sweet look.
Stonington Gray is one of my favorite neutrals. While it’s certainly gray, it’s one of the most neutral and realistic grays that Benjamin Moore has to offer. It is a combination of blue and green tones, which creates a more natural gray color instead of cold gray. While HC-169 Coventry Gray is a close runner, it’s certainly darker than Stonington Gray and doesn’t tend to pick up in dimly lit spaces either. HC-170 Stonington Gray pairs well with a crisp white to create a modern look or a warmer white to soften gray. Most importantly, it goes well with charcoal grays like HC-168 Chelsea Gray or HC-166 Kendall Charcoal.
Although this color can hardly be considered a neutral color, the strong blue tones of this color create a crisp and cool gray that is in fashion at the moment. It goes well with contrasting colors and similar shades of gray. It may work best to cool an area exposed to strong southern or western light, while the same tone is intensified in spaces exposed to northern or eastern light. It goes well with contrasting colors and similar shades of gray.
The Best Mushroom Paint Colors For Your Kitchen
Goldilocks had only three options to choose from in her story, but there are 10 beautiful neutral colors that will satisfy your color story. From time to time I get questions (both online and in person) about our house paint colors. So I thought I’d document them here to give people a place to refer to.
As you know, colors read differently on different computer screens. Even personally, the same color is different in different rooms or in different lighting (that’s why it’s so hard to choose colors!) But we’ve had all these colors for many years and I still really like them.
Most of our walls are painted with Stone Stove Benjamin Moore. I consider it a mile, but sometimes it’s more like a hot grill.
I often think about painting our walls white because I really like it in pictures, but I’m not sure what I’d like in real life. I also like the contrast between this color and the white wood.
A Comprehensive Guide To The Best Neutral Paint Colours
My desk (below) is a half-power painted stone stove. Not much of a difference, but I’d say it’s more gray than taupe.
Almost all the woodwork in the house is painted Benjamin Moore dove white, including the kitchen cabinets. Benjamin Moore says it’s one of the 10 most popular colors in their system because it’s not too warm or too cool. This was certainly our experience. It doesn’t look too gray or too yellow to me, which can be a challenge when choosing a good white.
Our kitchen is painted with Benjamin Moore jeweled wood. I would describe it as brown with a lot of gray and again, I like the contrast with the white woods.
Our dining room is painted with a beige semi-solid wood. Like my laptop, I don’t see much difference between it and full power.

It also works great as a neutral. Here I paired it with other neutrals (earth and gray) and just a bit of coral on the pillows and some artwork.
We also went dark with the bookshelves and French doors (not shown, I need to get a good photo of them) in the piano room. They are ironstone paint by Sherwin Williams.
The mineral works well with the stone fireplace (wall) and the white dove (trimmed) here as well.
I hope this helps someone trying to pick a paint color. I know how confusing and overwhelming it can be, so I don’t do it often. I like to find something I like and stick with it for a long time.
