Benjamin Moore White Dove Sherwin Williams Equivalent – From e-design and blogging I’ve never shared a set of some of my favorite colors here! I’ve talked about choosing paint colors, but I never gave you details. It’s time to change that!

Now I feel like I have to share a disclaimer that paint colors look different in every room so even if you spy one you really like here or on an inspiration photo on pinterest always

Our Favorite Neutral Paint Colors & A Paint Guide

My best paint swatch trick that will save you time and a trip to the paint store (and prevent you from having a million tiny swatch containers) is to order 12″ x 12″ swatches from Samplize. They use real colors on the peel paper so you get an accurate representation of what the color looks like.

One more note before we get into the paint colors themselves – always mention the brand name when looking for a paint. Many brands have very similar names for their colors (especially white and neutral) and it would be such an embarrassing mistake to accidentally get one when you wanted the other!

As a double check. I once ordered something that I thought was a Whale Gray sample and ended up with Whale Grey! Needless to say they were not the same. 🙈

Some of my favorite light neutrals are from Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Behr. SV Snowbound, Behr Ultra Pure White, BM Winter White, BM White Dove, BM Simpli White, SV Extra White, BM Chantilli Lace, SV Eider White, SV Greek Villa, BM Classic Grey, BM Horizon, SV Agreeable Gray

Choosing Interior Paint Colors

The most perfect white with just a touch of warmth. It reads like pure white, but doesn’t feel cold or sterile.

We painted all the trim in our Philly home this color. It’s clean, bright white. It can be a bit harsh on walls for my personal taste, but it’s great for upholstery, especially if you have a neutral light on the walls and want to make sure there’s a bit of contrast between the upholstery and the upholstery.

Another color from our home in Philly! This one really takes on different tones in different lights. We painted every room in our house with it, and even our open floor plan on the first floor looked different from the front of the house to the back. May have a slight green undertone in certain lights.

Slightly creamier white, but without too much yellow. Works beautifully on walls, tiles and cabinets. Just be sure to compare it to other whites you have around, as it can look a little dirty next to a super clean white.

Top 5 Benjamin Moore Whites + Off Whites

This is a bit lighter than the White Pigeon and still has some warmth. It’s another option that works on trim, walls, or cabinets in almost any room.

We currently have this throughout the house. The people who renovated our house for us chose it, and frankly it’s a little rough for my taste. I like it on the trim, but I wish our walls were a little warmer. However, if you like bright, crisp whites, this is great!

An almost pure, almost clear white that blends well with other colours. It’s a bit of a chameleon – it can be warm or cool depending on the room and other colors around it.

It is a warmer light gray shade. Works well in rooms with little or no natural light. It reads like a light neutral color with just a hint of dark red. It helps those dark spaces to still be bright without being painted white.

Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace Review

Like Eider White, Greek Fairy is a good choice for a light neutral that is not pure white. It has a bit more of a yellow/beige undertone, so it will feel more like a tan.

Use this one in our Philly home and it’s one I’ve recommended to clients over and over if they want a warm gray that isn’t boring. It provides an excellent background for furniture and goes well with warm and cool spaces. However, it can turn green at certain lights, so pay close attention to the pattern.

It’s a cool light gray that can read more blue in north-facing rooms because of the cooler light. It’s a bright, cheerful neutral that feels really fresh and clean.

Warm grey, cozy gray is very popular and not without reason! It works well in different spaces and lights and has a nice brown/gray undertone. This one might be the darkest of the bunch, but don’t be put off if you try to stay on the lighter side. It will feel a bit more saturated and have more contrast with the white decorations.

What Color Ceiling Goes With White Dove Walls?

So here it is! Some of my favorite light neutrals. Consider these small color swatches as a starting point. It looks different on screen than in real life, so if you see something similar to what you’re looking for, order a sample and see how it looks in your home! I get more questions about white in my photos than anything else. Color is always something that people fuss about, especially when it comes to joinery and carpentry, because it is such an important decision that cannot be easily “fixed”. This guide is in my new book (along with the best palettes for neutrals and kids’ rooms!), but it’s hard to see in print, so I thought I’d repost it here, along with some tips.

When choosing white for cabinets and trim, consider the lighting in your unique space and always test on multiple walls. White looks VERY different in different types and directions of lighting, so what it looks like in the store is NOT how it will look in your home. Always paint the cabinet door example exactly the color and gloss you want to use (we usually use a satin gloss for kitchen cabinets). The tiny chips don’t give you accurate information about what they will look like. And if you plan on using white subway tiles in conjunction with your cabinets, you’ll need to match them. Keep in mind that no two white subway tiles are exactly the same (shades vary), so you’ll need to choose one that matches your chosen cabinet surface or choose a cabinet color that matches your chosen tile.

The cabinets and finish in this kitchen are Ben Moore Chantilly Lace – this is a VERY light, pure white.

My family room’s decor is Ben Moore White Dove, which has slightly richer undertones. We often use it in more traditional homes.

Paint Colour Review: Benjamin Moore White Dove Oc 17

My master suite has Sherwin Williams Extra White on the trim and trim – I wanted a really bright crisp white against the walls here, which are Sherwin Williams Incredible White.

This beach house is finished top to bottom in Ben Moore Decorators White, another very fresh, bright white.

My current favorite white for cabinets and trim is Ben Moore Simply White – not too bright, but not too creamy either. This is my goal.

We painted our office Sherwin Williams Greek Villa, which is a soft creamy white that I really love, especially against the brick.

How To Choose The Right White Paint

A white on white room can be great, with two shades and a white finish or with the same color in two different finishes on the walls and edges. In this room, the walls are Ben Moore Swiss Coffee, a glossy ivory that is not yellow, and the wainscoting is Ben Moore White Dove with a semi-gloss finish. A subtle change in tone is a rich look.

In this room, the whole room is the same color, Ben Moore White Dove, but the walls are like eggshells and the wainscoting is semi-gloss. Here there is a change in color, which creates contrast rather than a change in tone.

Leave a comment with the bright white colors you’ve used and love – it’s always nice to hear from others what they like! Last week I shared with you that our first project of the year is a small kitchen. Color will be the biggest part of the transformation. Our kitchen has white cabinets, black granite and green paint with sea salt on the walls. I was already eager to paint the walls white. I think it will work much better with blackboards.

So today I’m going to share my tried and true favorite whites. I’ve had the opportunity to choose colors for a number of design projects and these whites are always my choice.

The white pigeon is beautiful warm white. It has some gray undertones making it a soft creamy white, but it doesn’t look yellow/white. It is an excellent color for walls, decorations and cabinets.
