Best Paint Colors For West Facing Rooms – It can affect your understanding. Natural light varies in color and intensity depending on where it comes from. If the beige color that looked good in your last home is now pink, or your favorite gray in your bedroom is more purple, it may be because you are comparing rooms in different places.

In this article I will teach you how natural light affects interior paint colors (in the north of the river anyway). I’ve also included some suggestions for neutral colors that pair well with the lighting in these rooms. But before we get into the details, let’s go over some important points when choosing interior paint colors…

Before you start painting and decorating the walls, always test the color of the paint in the area you want to use it! (We send 8″ x 10″ color samples of our recommendations to customers who recommend Good Color.)

How To Choose Paint Colours

Rooms with north-facing windows have a cooler, gray light. Even with lots of windows and lots of sun, the color of the light will be on the cold side. This means that cold colors (blue, gray, blue and some shades of white) can freeze in the northern room. Painting north-facing rooms a warm color or even a warm neutral can offset this cold effect.

Edgecomb Gray HC-173 is a nice, creamy color for homeowners who want to add a shade of gray without feeling cold.

Navajo White OC-95 is a bright color. The blue light in the north-facing room provides a good balance against the yellow in this color scheme.

A popular color, Grant Beige HC-83 is a cool color with hints of gray. A bright room facing north.

Paint Colours For North Facing Bedrooms

Rooms with south-facing windows are illuminated with warm yellow light as the day progresses. In the morning, these rooms can be shaded, which makes the color of the area a bit flat. If your south room is bright during the day, cool or gray can help balance all the warm light. Using warm colors in this area will strengthen the visual comfort of the room.

Balanced Beige SW 7037 is a beautiful warm color and one of my favorites. The combination of gray and brown makes it less of a traditional beige. It works well in a room that gets sunlight from south-facing windows.

Gray Owl OC-52 is a soft, warm gray without being cool. In a room that does not see direct sunlight, its color will be a little darker.

Ballet White OC-9 is a light, creamy oil that retains some heat. This color can bring a lot of light and warmth to the space, but it can be neutral for southern rooms that do not get direct sunlight.

Paint Colours For North Facing Rooms

East (and west) facing rooms are more difficult to determine because the light is uneven. East-facing rooms have bright, soft light that’s a little warm in the morning. As the sun rises, the light shines in the east-facing rooms, and during the day the colors become lifeless. Rooms with east facing windows appear gray and dark during the day. These areas usually work best with warm colors. Cold tones can feel a bit boring in the middle of the day.

Macadamia SW 6142 is a light-to-medium neutral with a golden color that doesn’t fade in the middle of the day.

Creamy SW 7012 is one of the few whites that can hold its own in an east-facing room. It warms the area without jaundice.

Techno Gray SW 6170 is warm. With a hint of green, this color will keep an east-facing room warm in the sunlight.

West-facing rooms have less light in the morning. During the day, the light gets warmer and brighter, and its intensity increases throughout the day. Western rooms are beautiful with cool and warm colors, but be aware that the sunlight of the day increases the intensity and depth of warm tones.

If you have windows on more than one wall, you’re dealing with multiple surfaces (yes!) Determine which window provides the best unobstructed light. In general, you want to focus more on the dynamic effect in the room. The good news is that you will have some flexibility when choosing your color.

A room facing southwest will have a warm, bright light that gradually brightens in the afternoon, while a room facing northeast will have cool light throughout the day. A room with a south-east window has soft and warm sunlight, it shines in the morning, it fades a little in the afternoon, the intense heat of the sun is softened by the influence of the east. Northwest facing rooms tend to be cool and gray all day, with only a little warm light in the evening.

Once you’ve chosen your favorite paint color, you’re done and ready to run to the paint store – the sun is moving (well, the earth is actually moving, but let’s go into a little more detail). Ah, the glory of exposure.

Painting By Light: How To Choose Colours To Suit A Room’s Aspect

However, exposure is one of the most important factors when choosing a color scheme. Not only do you need to consider the size of your room, the color of the board, floors, furniture and clothes, you need to understand how the sun (or lack of it) can affect the color of the paint.

And btw, the beginning of this post is a GOOD EXPLANATION. If you do not understand your room and its needs, there is no point in seeing beautiful colors – so give me this little tour (in other words, break the wine box, we have been here for a long time).

And since I’ve done north, south and east facing rooms, I think it’s only fun to mention the west facing rooms – here we go!

Best Paint Colors For West Facing Rooms

In the early morning, west-facing rooms get the last rays of the sun, which means they can be a bit gray and shady.

How Light Affects Colour

And remember, there is a difference between shade and shade. Shadows are what you get when the sun comes in, it cuts the light and creates sharp edges. Instead of 9 pounds, 6 oz. Oh, and when the room is a little gray and collapsed because there isn’t much light coming in.

At noon, the sun is at its peak and brighter/whiter. This light washes out more colors. Also, there is a little light at the end of the tunnel for the rooms facing west, as the sunlight comes from its side.

As the sun begins to set (Elton John’s style) it begins to warm up the west-facing room – adding a warm, bright, golden glow. This is similar to what you find in southern rooms.

This is the same part of the wall as the first picture. See how the sunlight warms and strengthens it compared to the morning shot?

The 11 Best Benjamin Moore Paint Colours For A South Facing Room

The sun is redder/hotter in the afternoon and casts the hottest light into a west-facing room. Not that your walls should be painted pink (that can be a beautiful sunset), but in general, it gives the room a very warm light (think warm, golden light).

It contains the basics. Now you need to know what to do with this knowledge, so let’s get into the guts and glory.

(some of these were copied and pasted from east facing rooms – but that’s how sharp and clever it is.
