Whatever answer you’re looking for, I’ve got you covered! Let’s look at some paint colors for south facing rooms.
I have talked a lot about shades in many of my blog posts about paint colors. And that’s because they are so important! Undertones have a sneaky way of playing with the look of your painting in and around your room. Therefore, they should not be ignored.
Well, in rooms facing south, where there is constant light throughout the day, these rooms are the brightest in the house and bring in the warmest light. It’s important to keep this in mind when going through paint color options: Your paint may look warmer in real life due to the natural light coming in.
Although south-facing rooms get more natural light than north-facing rooms, that doesn’t necessarily mean that any paint color will work. As I mentioned in the undertone section above, you should look for paint colors with a cooler undertone to counteract the warm natural light.

For this reason, cool tones such as blue, green and purple are good choices, and help to balance the intensity of sunlight that often shines in south-facing rooms.
It is also important to remember that the light changes a lot between morning and night in south facing rooms. You have to paint different pieces around the room and inspect them at three different points during the day to make sure you’re happy with them.

There are a few paint colors that you should avoid using in your south facing rooms. Typically, these are colors that intensify the warmth of direct sunlight and can often appear much more yellow than intended.

You should avoid using yellow as this color tends to be too bright for south facing rooms. However, yellow is an excellent choice for north-facing rooms that need extra warmth.
It is worth avoiding paint colors with extremely warm undertones, as natural light entering south-facing rooms will increase any warmth and overemphasize warm tones. Colors such as brown or deep red can look completely different in south facing rooms.

First things first: white paint colors aren’t really white. To understand it, you will need to understand LRV.

The Light Reflectance Value or LRV of any paint is a number assigned based on how much light the color reflects, with 0 being absolute black and 100 being pure white. The higher the number, the more light is reflected.
However, no white paint has an LRV of 100. Sherwin Williams High Reflective White (which is one of the brightest paint whites you can find) is 93. Almost anything 80 or higher is considered white, and “white” can vary from ~ 70 to 80. So you have to ask yourself how bright (LRV closer to 90) or soft white (LRV closer to 80) you would like to’ you complain that
Speaking of “soft” whites, the less bright the white, the more colors (or shades) are added to soften the bright white. “White” paint has a little extra color:
First of all, you need to consider the style. In general, warm whites will help create a cozy feel and pair well with a more traditional space. On the other hand, a cooler white can be more whimsical and modern. These are generalizations of course, but a good starting point if you know you prefer a more classic or more contemporary feel.

Secondly, you need to consider the natural light in the room. Northern rooms (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) tend to have slightly cooler light, while southern rooms tend to have warmer light. So if your room faces north, you’ll want to choose a slightly warmer white paint to balance the cooler natural light. And vice versa for south facing rooms.
Rooms facing east or west are difficult because the quality of light will change throughout the day in these rooms, but suffice it to say that sunset light entering rooms facing the west tends to be orange or pink. It can also be difficult if the light coming into your home is filtered by a lot of tree cover or close to buildings that can reflect their colors back into your home.
Finally, you should test the color in the space. White paint is particularly sensitive to the color of light, floor and other elements in the space… So I always try 2-3 colors before committing. It’s worth the extra effort!
As I said, it’s so important to test your paint shade in your actual space, especially with white. I’ve never had a problem with paint colors all over my walls, but I realize it’s inconvenient sometimes. And because of the challenges of getting paint samples these days, I’m excited to share a better option.

It is an option for many interior designers. It is a soft and timeless white (LRV 82) with a very subtle creaminess. But unlike many creamy white paint colors, the shades are more beige or gray rather than yellow. Create a charming and elegant space that still feels cosy. It has many similarities with Benjamin Moore’s Swiss coffee.
A shade of white very similar to Alabaster, but with a touch less yellow (so little, in fact, my husband swears they look the same ๐ ), Silos White is also beautiful and cozy without being too warm for a more contemporary than modern style. mansion style.
