White walls are all the rage right now, and with good reason. They make neutral, bright and versatile backdrops for your space. They reflect natural light back into the space, creating a warm and inviting feel. But to be honest, choosing the right white paint color for your space can definitely be a challenge. If you’re having a hard time choosing a paint color for your home, we’ve got some pro, tried and true tips that can help make the decision a little easier for you!
Paint Colour Review: Sherwin Williams Pure White Sw 7005
One of our biggest tips when it comes to using white in your home is to stick to one color for the walls, ceiling and floor. For floors and ceilings, we want to reduce this to 50% (this creates a softer and lighter version of the original shade, while staying true to the same color and undertones). If you use more than one white color in an area, you run the risk of different colors and color tones that can seriously change the way some whites look against each other. The same goes for other paint colors, but it can be especially noticeable. among whites). By painting everything the same white you can be sure that all the tones and tones are the same so your white paint color will be tried and true without changing its look. If you want some contrast in the trim or cabinetry, use the same white paint color 75% or 50% lighter. We highlight the same percentage as the trim on the ceiling.
We hope our guide to choosing the right white color will help you in your decision making process! Always, always remember to model. You may not want to spend money, but sampling can save you from costly repainting mistakes in the long run. Test your samples at different times of the day, in different rooms of the house, with your floor/cabinet color and flooring. All of these can change the appearance of whites, so be sure to consider all factors. In our opinion, you can’t sample too much! If you’re thinking of getting more than one white, paint them all next to each other in different parts of your room (decorate as well!).
Whatever you do, please don’t be put off by the pictures you see online of certain colors. All colors look different on a computer screen and apply different settings. They won’t be the same in your home, so keep that in mind and use patterns instead.
When choosing glass for your white paint, we usually recommend plain or eggshell for standard (non-bathroom) walls with satin in the bathroom. Our preference for the ceiling is flat paint. We usually use satin in joinery and carpentry. Semi-gloss is also popular for use in fine work.
