Best Way To Clean Brick Wall – As a building material, brick is prized for its rugged beauty and durability. However, over time and exposure to the elements, its porous surface can begin to collect dirt, grime and debris, spoiling its overall appearance. Fortunately, finding a brick that looks its best is not a difficult task. In addition to dusting occasionally, you should aim to clean interior or exterior brick walls once a year to remove dirt accumulation, and use more careful hand cleaning methods to combat mold and mildew growth.
1.1 Brush the wall with a brush. Use a brush to remove loose dust, dirt, cobwebs and other debris from the surface of the brick. Make sure you reach the top of the wall and cover any corners or holes where dirt might be hiding.

1.2 Lower the wall from top to bottom. Turn the hose on full blast and wash off the remaining dust. Work from one end of the wall to the other from top to bottom so that the dirt does not spread around. When the wall dries, it will regain its original quality. Partially cover the valve stem with your finger to increase your water pressure.

When wet, sponge the wall to remove hard water stains and mineral deposits.
1.3 Treat the air duct with a special sealant. If your brick wall is crumbling or showing signs of wear and tear, you can protect it with a silane-based adhesive product. Brush a thin layer of sealer over the entire surface of the wall and allow it time to dry. The sealant will help fill in the weak places, making the brick more resistant to damage and adverse weather conditions.
2.1 Mix water and ammonia in a large bowl. Fill the bucket three-quarters full with hot water, then add half a cup of ammonia. Ammonia will help loosen dirt and stains, allowing them to be cleaned more easily.
2.2 Soak the resulting brush in ammonia solution. Apply the solution to the brush head and soak the brushes in preparation for washing. Shake the excess solution from the bucket.

2.3 Clean the dirty area of the wall. Work the brush on the wall surface in powerful strokes to break up stubborn residue and paint. Make sure to clean the entire wall so that one part does not come out a different color. Continue cleaning until the walls are completely clean, occasionally adding new solution to the brush.
2.4 Spray the wall with clean water. Remove the crucible from the brick to wash off all the residue of the ammonia solution, as well as any residue that might help. Let the wall dry. Try cleaning exterior walls with ammonia once or twice a year, or even more if you live in an area with a lot of dust or rain.
3.1 Mix water and bleach together in a spray bottle. Use about 1 part bleach to 6 parts water to achieve the correct concentration. Shake the bottle to make sure the solution is well mixed. Always keep the spray bottle away from your face.
3.2 Spray the wall with bleach solution. Apply the mixture liberally to areas of the wall where mold or mildew growth is thickest. Bleach is a strong disinfectant that is mildly caustic – it will not only kill the growth on the brick, but it will also eat what is holding onto the wall.

3.3 Let the solution sit overnight. For best results, give the bleach 8-12 hours to take effect. When it sits on the wall, it will suffocate the growth of mold or mildew, making it easier to remove without much scrubbing.
3.4 Wash the wall with a brush. After being treated with bleach, the mold and mildew should be washed under strong water. Remove the remaining bits by hand with a plastic spatula or spatula, then rinse again. Allow the wall to dry and, if necessary, apply a silane-based sealant to protect against future growth.
4.1 Wait 7 days after repair before using pressure washer. If you have cracks or chips in the mortar on your wall, repair it first, and wait 7 days before using a pressure washer. This will help you avoid damaging your recent repairs.
4.2 Spray the wall with a low pressure hose for saturation. Spray the entire wall so that it is saturated with water. Your maximum tire pressure should not exceed 700 psi. Too much pressure can damage a brick wall, especially if you have recently repaired it.

4.3 Add detergent according to manufacturer’s instructions. Use a safe detergent in your pressure washer. Check your pressure washer’s instruction manual to learn how to properly add detergent.
4.4 Pour a cleaning solution and leave for up to 15 minutes. Re-clean the wall with the cleaning solution in your pressure washer. Use a side-to-side scrubbing motion to completely sand the brick wall. Before washing, let the detergent sit on the wall for up to 15 minutes, but do not let the detergent dry on the wall.
4.5 Remove stubborn stains with a cleaning brush. If you notice hard spots or gray stains on the wall after you saturate with detergent, use a scrub brush to work on them. Apply medium pressure to the brush and sweep back and forth across the stain.
4.6 Wash detergent and dirt from the wall. After the time has passed and you have finished cleaning the wall, spray the wall with water. Start at the top and work your way down. Be sure to remove all detergent. Go over the wall a few times to make sure all the detergent is gone.

Clean the tiles thoroughly with a cleaning solution. Start by scrubbing the surface of the brick with a trowel – water is usually effective in removing most of the dirt and dust from the bricks. To remove stubborn dirt and accumulated salt, use a stiff brush dipped in a soapy water mixture. If that doesn’t work, mix 1⁄2 cup (120 mL) of trisodium phosphate with 1 gallon (3.8 L) of water to make a cleaning solution and dip the brush in it before washing the brick.

The wall was covered with slices of plaster and a lot of dust and salt (due to the flower). We could sand the brick with household appliances, but I wanted to clean the brick in the most efficient way.
I turned to Google and read hundreds of tips. I found that there were many options (brush, water, soap, acid), but many people used wire brushes to clean the interior bricks. I immediately went to my local hardware store and purchased the three wire brushes shown below.
Our favorite all-purpose brush (cleaning brick and mortar, removing bits of grout, etc.) was the 3″x19″ wire brush. We dry our brick wall for 4-5 hours. The brush created so much dust that we had to close the whole area.
Unfortunately, the wall still looks good
