Best Way To Clean Sunbrella Outdoor Cushions – If you have outdoor cushions made from Sunbrella fabric, you know they are made to last. But even the most durable fabric will eventually show signs of wear and tear, not to mention dirt and grime on the outside. To help you keep your Sunbrella pillows looking new, our team has listed some tips on how to clean them below.

It is important to clean the outer cushions for several reasons. First, they will last longer if you keep them clean. This is because it eliminates the possibility of mold infection. Second, it’s hygienic to sit on clean pillows, they’re also more comfortable! And third, Sunbrella outdoor pillows are made to resist stains and mildew, so cleaning them regularly will keep them looking their best.

Fortunately, cleaning the outer cushions is a relatively simple process. In most cases, all you need is some mild soap, water and a little grease.

Start by removing any dirt or loose debris from the surface of the fabric. A soft brush or a vacuum cleaner can be helpful at this stage.

If there are stubborn stains, treat them with mild soap or detergent. Ideally, use a spray bottle to cover the pads evenly and use a brush or sponge to spread the product.

Sunbrella Outdoor Cushions can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent. This helps keep the whole pillow nice and cool.

To prevent mold growth, dry your pillows in the open air or on low heat. Do not iron or steam Sunbrella fabrics as this can damage the fabric.

When we renovated our master bedroom a few years ago, we added beautiful outdoor seating to extend the space in our backyard. It was great! But I admit that I neglected a deep cleaning for two years. Instead, I didn’t do any cleaning. Mainly because it’s so easy to look after garden furniture in our sunny climate. Sometimes food gets spilled on them and it rains on them, but the San Diego sun tends to dry out the moisture and bleach the stains in a matter of days. Or so I thought.

With summer just around the corner and wanting to have some friends or family over to maintain safe social distancing outdoors, our outdoor spaces are getting more attention. I took a good look at the white pillows and immediately realized, “Ah, I guess our San Diego climate doesn’t keep these things as perfectly clean as I thought, because these things are dirty!” I never take them inside in the winter and I never clean them. sample

Uncle. What I mean They were still usable, but the two years of use started to show. Although our climate is very dry, we are only a few miles from the coast, so the fog comes in the evenings and mornings as the temperatures cool. Turns out, things can get funny even in San Diego. wow

I bought this simple electric pressure washer a few years ago (this picture above is from 2016 when I was painting my nails – who is that person?!) It’s not a professional grade machine for industrial cleaning, so I almost bought it off the shelf. I thought I would rent the best of the best washing machines when I needed it. But I’m so glad I bought this little man instead of renting one when I need it. It’s nice to have it in the garage when I feel like cleaning. And believe me, it often is!

My pressure washer comes with a soap attachment so I can pre-soak everything with suds and then rinse. At first I didn’t think it was necessary so I just kept washing a lot, but I can definitely say that the soap helped speed up the cleaning.

It comes with several attachments to determine how narrow or wide the water flow you want on each element. I went with the 15 degree attachment for all my cleaning. It didn’t cover as much ground as a wider tip, so it took longer, but I was really focused on it providing a focused clean.

My big tip for using tools you only use seasonally, especially ones with a specific on/off routine, is to type the steps into the machine. Instead of reaching for the owner’s manual to re-read the fine print, or instead of pretending to remember it, just write it down. And write it in real unit. This pressure washer, like many others, has some steps that must be followed to use the machine safely. So I wrote the step by step to turn it on and then turn it off. Saves me a good ten minutes wondering why the water is spraying everywhere and saves me a trip to the emergency services to put the nozzle on when it’s already on.

Safety tip: Power washers are dangerous, so don’t touch the nozzle, watch where your toes are, and never point it at an animal/human/plant/glass or anything vulnerable. These things mean business.

Am I going to do anything else to keep things cleaner? Probably not. We don’t have much storage space in the garage, and our climate is so mild, it’s hard for me to tell the difference between fall, winter, and spring, so I wouldn’t even know when to buy them. Maybe I could get furniture covers, but hey. I love pressure washing! So maybe I deep clean every year. This looks more fun than having them covered or saved.

If you are in the market for a pressure washer, I recommend this one. It’s electric, so when I use it on sunny days, it’s powered by the sun (we have solar panels) instead of pesky fossil fuels. It is easy to use with simple attachments and ease of use. It connects to a household outlet and a garden hose (this hose is my favorite because we always maintain pressure and it never leaks). It comes with everything you need for just $150. And it has an optional soap attachment for deep cleaning with your favorite detergent. Granted, it’s not the heaviest machine, so we could definitely get faster/better cleaning from an industrial pressure washer, but I don’t really need one. This one does the trick and is perfect for impromptu cleaning.

How To Clean Patio Cushions The Easy & Efficient Way

Lots of gardening thoughts this week, including a compost hack, garden renovation regrets, a harvest plan, and other things like lead safety, Alison’s kitchen renovation, a new book from everyone’s favorite old house account , support for family visits, the new article I hung to attract bugs, a high school paper I want to try, a TP recommendation, repair clinics and more!

Our century-old house needs a fresh coat of paint, and the task of dealing with layers of lead-based paint has been quite daunting. There are some important steps to keep lead out of our waterways, soil, air and homes when we work outdoors. I’m here to share exactly what to do (and not do!) when preparing a home for a quality paint job and being extra careful with lead.

Things on my mind this week including an update to paint the bitches, some newborn essentials we still use to this day, a budget quilt, conversation cards, the most useful oldie.
