Moreover, they try hard to make their wedding simple and do not give in to the concern about the mysterious Jack Taylor.
Readers may want to review Mitford’s first 10 novels and focus on past relationships. Karon sometimes confuses readers about character and motivation. A reader who is not familiar with the series will be completely lost.
Still, “Come Rain or Come Shine” is a sweet read for those rooting for Papa Tim and his family.

It was supposed to be a low-key affair held at Meadowgate Farm, with a potluck dinner hosted by Dooley’s best friend Tommy; his band, the Ham Biscuits, and Lace’s best friend, Beth.
Papa Tim fans don’t have to worry about missing out on all the wedding favors. It features heavily in this novel, the 13th in Karon’s best-selling Mitford series. Like Cynthia’s wife, Harley’s neighbor and friend, Dooley’s siblings and other characters that readers love.
At the beginning of the story, Father Tim is helping Dooley repair broken cattle fences in Meadowgate, the setting of the novel. As he gave Dooley the tools for the job, he thought, “He prayed for a harder retirement, and here he is in living color. On the other hand, this is the most fun he’s had in a raccoon’s age. Not everyone has to watch a young couple build a new life. “
Before the “Big Knot,” as Harley called it, came Dooley’s graduation from veterinary school and the opening of his veterinary practice, which was purchased along with the farm from Professor Hal Owen.
