For this exterior wall painting, we need to match the bricks to the blue hardwood siding at the top of the house. The existing brick paint color is a soft grey that matches the blue edge. Recently pressure washed, we kept the front tile bare and left some unpainted back as it was in good shape.
Obviously, painting the brick blue to match the siding will make the house appear larger than it actually is.
The custom paint color formula for the brick is James Hardy’s Night Grey to match the existing composite siding. We paired the new brick wall color with off-white trim and painted downspouts and gutters to add to the look. Needless to say, we refinished the back balcony railing and front porch to complete the exterior makeover of the house.
A Stunning Exterior Makeover

Finally, we painted the door, house number and front door a warmer grey. The dark grey used is called raccoon fur (also a Benjamin Moore colour). As such, it goes well with warm and creamy brick shades like Ocean Pearl. This results in a simple and modern brick home that will look great for years to come.

Short answer: absolutely! More and more people in the Boston, MA area are choosing to paint brick exteriors, giving them new life and a different style. But before painting a brick home, it’s important to consider a few things.
You can change the look and feel of a brick home to make it look like a new home in a relatively short amount of time! You can paint the exterior white for a fresh and clean look, or if you’re looking for something a little more dramatic and stylish, try a pretty grey. Many also decide to wear beige, a look that is both classic and sophisticated.
When looking for inspiration, you can check social media sites like Houzz or Pinterest, or ask the painting experts Lighthouse Painting. One of my favorite parts of my job is helping my clients choose the perfect color for the look of their home! If you decide to take inspiration from photos, keep in mind that your house is not the same style as in the pictures – this will affect the final result.
Brick Home Exterior Color Schemes
Another important thing to consider is the irreversibility of brick exterior paint. Once you’ve painted your house, there’s really no going back. If you miss the classic brick house, it’s hard (if not impossible) to go back. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s worth thinking about.
Also, ten painted bricks look dirtier than unpainted bricks, so you’ll need to clean and force wash the surface more often. Generally, you should repaint the brick every five to seven years to prevent the paint from cracking, peeling, or chipping. This will also prevent moisture from entering your home.
This is a great question! in case
