Farrow And Ball Paint Store – “I am passionate about architecture and art, passionate about everything that is painted, I hope to tell you the secrets that will inspire you to live well in your home!”
Hello friends! I found another article that was not published. I love Farrow and Ball colors and was inspired by visiting Boxwood Interiors that I think you will love this too. Boxwood has moved to a new location at 1320 W Alabama St, Houston, Texas 77006.
Farrow And Ball Paint Store
I had a great time visiting Boxwood, a beautiful furniture store in Houston. I would like to learn more about the Farrow & Ball paint line they offer. I am so impressed by the whole store that I want to share more than just the colors!
Farrow & Ball Living With Colour By Shaw, Ros Byam
Before Boxwood became a distributor of Farrow & Ball paints in Houston, these products had to be ordered online and shipped. While I have always loved the color, Farrow & Ball was never an option for me before due to the difficulty of obtaining the product.
The company has been manufacturing paint in Dorset, England since 1946. Farrow & Ball quickly built a reputation for quality. In the post-war period, when almost all other paint manufacturers abandoned the traditional model and switched to cheaper acrylic paint with high quality plastic, this private company stuck to its craft make and continue to produce colors in the original style, using the best materials.
But is it worth the higher price, often double that of other types of paint? According to Farrow & Ball, the color depth and beauty of their colors are unmatched. Use more beautiful colors and resins, while removing the “fillers”, giving the color more depth and purity, often called “Farrow & Ball look”. Unlike many other manufacturers, these low VOC paints use natural pigments in their purest form. They also use natural ingredients such as chalk, lime putty, linseed oil and porcelain clay. However, I know from experience that natural colors do not fade over time like their synthetic counterparts.
Interior designer Hallie Sims, who buys paint for her clients, seems to think Farrow & Ball would be a good choice. Although he has color matching many Farrow & Ball shades from different brands, he found that the finished product will not be as effective as when using Farrow & Ball color alone. Beverly Shaeffer, another designer I work with, says she can only achieve the richness she wants in her kitchen with Farrow & Ball, thinking their colors have a depth that cannot be repeated. This paint is reported to have better protection and require fewer coats, which makes the price $85 per gallon.

The sample jars are great!! Priced at $7, testing colors first is an easy way to make sure the colors you love will add to your home palette. Point is the most desirable color in Boxwood. Its delicate white shades like a chameleon and add everything! With so many white shades available, it sure is hard to find the perfect one! Black, another popular color, is a blue-gray shade, so important in modern interiors!
This is a dynamic duo – both are so sweet!!! When you ask Bret what his favorite part of the store is, he says, “My sister, Mimi, of course!” They make a great team, Bret creates new products and Mimi is a champion of the customer. He left an 18-year career as an English teacher and joined Boxwood when it opened four years ago. Their mother Fran also helps a few days a week. Everyone who came to love her and asked, “Where is Fran today?”
Farrow & Ball painted the background! I really like the two gold mirrors bought from the box in France.
Owner Bret created this beautiful product! This is covered in plastic, but they are also available in faux snakeskin and leather. Nail head accents are gorgeous, accentuating the lines of the furniture!! Bret simply comes up with a design, draws it, and takes it to his warehouse for his staff to create and complete the space for him and the specific customer. As you shop everywhere, the special equipment in this case, believe it or not, comes from Repair Repairs.
Farrow & Ball Launches Nine New Paint Colours, Including Sulking Room Pink And School House White
When I met my client, Mary Kay, in the store, I saw her love for special lights. Boxwood has its own lighting design. Many of the lighting fixtures are custom made in the store, such as the mercury glass lamp that looks like Mary Kay. “We love, love, love the lights!” said Mimi, “Landajra – old, new, old and everything in between.” With a variety of pillars, pure silver plated glass and custom painted balustrades built into the set, they are sure to be spoiled for choice. Bukszpan also has a variety of lighting from Europe and believes that you can never have too much lighting – “it makes a house feel like a house!”
Another beautiful styling in front of the Farrow & Ball Pigeon painted on the wall. All the display can be moved to my house as it is!!! I’m currently renovating my kitchen and living room, so Boxwood is a great place to get ideas and find unique pieces to add a finishing touch to your home. As a designer himself, Bret is both a great designer and able to help people buy home decor items.
Boxwood likes to mix colors, different fabrics and elegance with occasional accents. What better way to combine it all with beautiful cushions covered in Donghia, Schumacher and Scalamandre! Aunt Jo makes most of the pillows in the store. The design is incredible, with hidden zippers so that all the covers can be removed for dry cleaning, and careful attention is paid to the design ideas in the fabric. Hello Mimi!!
I met Maria Tracy at the beautiful home show she just finished and featured on the COTE DE TEXAS blog. I really liked the pillows and asked her where she got them. He said the box was finished!! Here she is with her daughter Allyson, sitting on the comfy cushions.

This is another of Boxwood’s signature chests. Since Bret can’t find all the products and accessories for his customers, he likes to buy unique finds or create new products that he thinks people will like. I get inspiration from everywhere. I just love that he follows his passion. With all these ideas constantly running through his head, he never sleeps!!!
This front shelf also has a good design and finish – I can imagine this look for many furniture and walls!!! The glass front is great, they see beautiful furniture throughout the store and open space!!!
I love their office too!! They are placed on the back wall and each section has two tables. A newspaper with a painted frame gives everyone a place to organize and decorate their place. There is plenty of space thanks to the shelves on both sides and pull out drawers on the tables. This idea is perfect for the playroom, upstairs or in the hallway where you can study, or computer station. I like to use tables to define an area. The Farrow and Ball colors used in these offices are Pavillion Gray and Cornforth White.
I had to take a picture without luck because I thought it was so cute!! I love the beadboard painted in the lightest pink –
Is Farrow And Ball Paint Worth The Money?
– with a plywood panel made of walls and covered with wallpaper. I have seen this used in the breakfast room, dining room, or children’s room. Very nice!!!
Very Elle Decor, this vignette has a beautiful feeling and a lot of style. From modern to antiques, mix different items like the store’s energy. Another original tree. I love the custom bar stools – very comfortable and can be customized to any finish.
As of this writing, Boxwood has moved to a new location at 1320 W Alabama St, Houston, TX 77006. They are always looking ahead of the curve – they still love the old stuff – the store also has a lot of stuff use modern and beautiful colors. . Go to their work page – there are many beautiful places for inspiration! Bret is one of those people I wish I spent more time with – he’s funny and down to earth as can be!
Here are some of my favorite Farrow & Ball colors: Skylight, Light Blue, Light Blue, Manor House Grey, Light Room Gray and Pavilion Gray – I just love these French colors!!! I also like Shaded White and Cornforth White for warm, neutral tones. Farrow & Ball has rich colors that have a lot of depth, but also a soft color that does not overwhelm the room – something that is difficult to find in many color options. Comment and let me know what your experience with the Farrow & Ball brand is… what colors have you tried and what you like. I hope you all have a great week!!! AMPERSAND INTERIORS
