A new store is starting! My wife and I have just moved and one of the criteria for moving was a large business store. The house exceeded all our criteria and the outlet was a great base to renovate and transform into a great workshop for my needs. The floor plan of the production hall is 40′ x 40′, and the store itself occupies 30′ x 40′ of this space. There is a 10-foot divider on one side where an overhead storm shield divides the space. The building itself is only 4 or 5 years old and the previous owner rebuilt it for automotive use. Going into the move, I knew the store wasn’t 100% perfect and needed some work. In this article, I will inform you about the structure and inform you about the problem and my plan to adapt it to your needs.
Country Plan: 0 Square Feet
Inside, it looks like a basic pole structure. Every 10 feet there are 6×6 posts connected to five horizontal 2×4 boards. It is a 2×4 person with an outdoor tent mixed with it. Between the can and the 2×4 is a thin membrane that acts as a thermal break and also prevents condensation inside the can. That’s my guess anyway.
Inside you will find the front door and window on the right wall, stairs to the attic with HVAC forced air intake and exhaust on the rear wall, and two tall horizontal windows and an exhaust fan on the left. There are many famous characters and shops. The previous owner used antique metal on the ceiling and the first few feet on the walls. Then they added a black pepper slab on top. The pegboard and sheet metal will be removed as they do not suit my needs. Instead, it will have a 2×6 wall frame with 24” spacing, insulation, and a 3/4” face diameter. This will give me more stroke options and a better job of maintaining climate control.
Once you go through the man’s door, the electrical panel is in the corner to the left. The fridge and office will be immediately to the right. If the refrigerator is too loud to record sound on the computer, I will replace it.
When I get all the stuff I made for my last office, the office will encompass this wall. I’m not entirely sure I’ll use the countertop I made as it’s mainly for my dog who isn’t in the shop with me.
Value+ 30 X 40 X 12
This shot faces the back wall and moves forward. There are two large sliding doors at the front. They are painted brown on the outside and bake when the sun shines on them! A lot of heat is released from the door into the room. The morning sun outside the store is around 20 degrees, so the amount of sun they get is small, but it does cause temperature problems. I would like to replace this with insulated doors and windows. The window will allow me to look out onto the street and know if someone is entering the house or shop, and since there is no room to work in the doorway, the light coming in will not cause problems with the camera.
You can also see the ceiling and light in this photo. The tin stops where the shower is above. The lighting is good enough to use here, but not good enough for video purposes. This will be replaced with an American Green Light LED lighting kit that I already had in my shop.
There is a forced air HVAC on the back wall. This unit worked when we bought the house, but I know the situation is that this unit is not perfect and will eventually be replaced with a smaller split unit.
