If you’re looking for a neutral that can work with the warm tones of wood furniture, oak cabinets and oak floors, it can be difficult to find the right neutral without going too orange or yellow. Gray feels too cold and beige can feel too brown!

Fortunately, shades of gray can help bring together old and new, warm and cool. Choosing the right gray paint color will help you find a middle ground between gray furniture and accessories, as well as dark wood and brown colors.

In recent years, we have used various greige colors for the exterior and interior of our homes. I love these shades on cabinets and vanities for the perfect warm neutral!

Designer Approved Off White Color Paints To Try

In our home, you’ll find our personal favorite shades, as well as pictures of these popular shades used elsewhere. It’s very helpful to see a great paint color in different rooms so you can feel confident about your choice!

Affordable, beige is a very popular gray color, and for good reason. It’s a beautiful neutral and can shine in a variety of places – trim, cabinets, walls and exteriors.

SW 7036 has a low LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of 58, which means it can make a room feel softer and cozier. It is very similar to SW Realist Beige!

SW 7029, Llwyd Cytun is probably the most popular gray on this list! With LRV 60, it reflects a similar amount of light as Realistic Beige and Accessible Beige.

Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter Vs Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige Colo

It has a slightly more brown undertone to it than the available beige in my opinion. I can’t wait to try it somewhere – have you used it anywhere in your home?

SW 6078 has an LRV of just 58.83, making it a nice midtone that can be surprisingly light and airy, especially outdoors.

A few years ago we used it for a bit of contrast when changing Tudor Paint Colors. It’s the perfect finish color contrast to the everyday white you’ll find in this gray color line as well!

With LRV 72, this is one of the lightest grays in the range. Don’t skip this one because you’re afraid it’s too white, though! It really is a great “in between” color!

The Most Popular Paint Colors On Pinterest

It looks white in this photo when paired with the Beige Realist SW finish, but it has a great gray undertone and is very similar to Benjamin Moore Pale Oak.

If you’re using it for your interior walls, pair it with a truer white for more contrast, or use my favorite trick of painting the walls and mixing up the same color.

The classic gray OC-23 is so awesome! Although it can also be considered a whiter color, the undertone of this color also places it in the greige family.

With an LRV of 74.78, these are the lightest and brightest greige colors in the range. I would love to use this to redo our master bathroom vanity – stay tuned!

Georgetown Pink Beige Hc 56

SW 7015 is another popular option to consider if you’re looking for a mid-range gray. At just 58 LRV, it looks very similar to the realistic beige we used as our exterior paint earlier!

Consider it for outdoor projects or indoor spaces that get a lot of light, or even on your kitchen cabinets, as you can see below.

This is one of the most popular greige colors that has reigned over the past decade. That’s because it’s tried and true and loved by so many homeowners!

Revere Pewter’s LRV is only 55.1, making it the darkest gray in the range. Keep this in mind when choosing samples! Although it will offer the greatest contrast with white trim, it may be too dark for some rooms.

Benjamin Moore Grant Beige Color Review

Benjamin Moore Pale Oak (OC-20) is a soft, light, neutral gray shade. In natural light it sounds like white. Like Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige, accent colors and lighting make a big difference in your room!

Pale Oak’s LRV is just under 70 (69.89), making it slightly darker than SW Everyday White, which is also on this list. This is the perfect shade of mushroom gray that is still very light – we painted our nightstand this color. Check out Benjamin Moore’s Natural Cream for another option from this range.

OC-27 is a cream color with an LRV of 67.37. It’s a great shade of gray for a variety of surfaces!

I like that it reads as a truer warm white, but offers a bit of contrast. It reminds me of Pale Oak in that way, so be sure to compare the two swatches!

The 8 Best Greige Paint Colors In 2022

The brick below is painted Balboa Mist and the finish is Intellectual Gray Sherwin Williams. Love those copper grooves too – what a combo!

This is another perennial favorite greige shade. People often compare Edgecomb Gray and Balboa Mist – I love them both!

Edgecomb Gray looks a bit more beige to me compared to the background. Balboa Mist is a little cooler and grayer and a little lighter overall, but not by much!

Edgecomb is earthy and warm, with an LRV of 63.88. This makes it very similar to Agreeable Grey, which is the most popular gray of them all. Experiment with both to see what works best in your home!
