Our designers recommend Sherwin Williams’ Repose Gray for all home styles. When paired with Benjamin Moore’s dark forest green, like the house above, it’s one of my favorite color schemes for modern gray exteriors. Our designers chose the neutral Repose Gray for the James Hardie Reveal and James Hardie Artisan side panel systems. This warm gray color is played with green and green tones, with a lot of dimension created by black forest green tones on the front door, windows, curbs and soffits. Wood tone siding adds color depth and creates a lovely earth tone for a modern home.
When it comes to the best modern gray exterior color schemes, we can’t help but mention Benjamin Moore’s combination of Chelsea Gray and Sea Pearl. Chelsea Gray is a refined neutral gray that brings out the depth of the house pictured above. Our designer recommends Benjamin Moore’s Sea Pearl for stone, trim, roof, and soffit. The soft white sea pearls are the perfect contrast to the gray Chelsea.
If you want a strict aesthetic, the combination below is definitely one of our favorite modern gray exterior paint schemes. Benjamin Moore cast iron is a saturated charcoal gray. It works best with light or dark accents. Our designers prefer a combination of two darker colors; The effect is very interesting. Depending on the natural light, this pleasant color can appear warm or cool. In the above rendering, our designer chose to wash the brick with Revere Pewter and use Benjamin Moore’s Black Beauty for the sides and trim. The combination of gray and black provides a pleasant contrast. We really like Benjamin Moore’s Galapagos turquoise paint on the front door.

The contrast between the two colors emphasizes the different structures of this house, creating an interesting scale.

Benjamin Moore’s River Deep really comes to life because of its dark and blue colors. In the top view, the strength of the Deep River side is matched by the warmth of the Revere Pewter brick.
While we love how the two dark colors work together, we also love the contrast provided by combining dark colors with white. Similar to Deep River, Benjamin Moore wool is dark gray, rich with blue tones. Our designer chose to pair the saturated side with the light and fresh alabaster designed by Sherwin Williams. The softness and warmth of the alabaster cut pair perfectly with the depth of the outside fur of the raccoon.
