I’m sure you know that I’m a loyal girl when it comes to painting and have had long-term relationships with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams over the years (Ben and Sherm individually). BUT, when Lowes came to town, I became very interested in Valspar and its various colors. I ordered a fan deck and a week later Val and I were officially married.

The Best Sherwin Williams White Paint Colors In 2020
Now, I’m still learning a lot about these colors (really, the learning is endless), but when I first introduced this paint line to my blog, I wanted to share with you my FOUR FAVORITE grays…
This is probably my favorite gray in the Valspar range. Notre Dame is the perfect depth – not too bright, not too dark and with very little visible undertones, it’s just a cool gray with a soft, subtle, cool green undertone. Not cold and icy, just cool tones.
Gravity is a beautiful cool gray with a subtle cool purple undertone and is definitely the NEWEST of the bunch. A warm purple can lean towards the pink side, a cool purple can lean towards the bluish side – that’s cool. Compare this bad boy to Notre Dame and you’ll see the underpinnings. This doesn’t mean you have “purple” walls, you can’t, but like most grays, you do.
Muted Gray is a cool gray with a subtle stone (not rock… stone) that gives it a slightly earthy look compared to Gravity’s crisp clean look.
Sherwin Williams Light French Gray (color Review)
This is the one I love (but is there really anything I don’t like? The filtered shade is a beautiful gray with a slightly warm feel (it doesn’t look too far off). Out of the 4, it’s the most “pretty”, has a slightly feminine look. and a subtle UBER purple/ brown.
I would appreciate it if you could hide my love for Valspar. Ben and Sherm might be sensitive about these things, so I’ll keep quiet for now. Just kidding – they don’t even know I exist (like most of my young men growing up) and I get nothing from promoting their brands – I like them!

The number one gray paint question I get is, “What’s the best gray for my house?” I will try to answer this. While there’s no short answer, after considering the following, there’s a good chance that one of these grays will work in your space.
I would venture to say that Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray or Repose Gray are the number one gray paint colors because they are neutral, not too warm, and in most cases not too cool.

But, we’ll cover it all and leave you with a list of great Sherwin Williams gray paint colors. It depends on whether you like cool or warm colors and what shades work best with the item you have.
At the same time, first of all, background tones play an important role. We use undertones to talk about color compared to other finishes. It is cooler/warmer or cleaner/mudder than the object of comparison.
I will give you an example. SW Pale French Gray is cooler and cleaner (cleaner) than SW Agreeable Gray (see chart below).
In comparison, SW Agreeable Gray is warmer and has more brown undertones than Light French Grey. Compared to Agreeable Gray, SW Passive Gray has a cooler blue undertone than the other two grays.
