Harley Davidson Factory Paint Colors – Paint is the bond that holds the look of a motorcycle together. For example, CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) has long focused on Harley-Davidson paint upgrades to enhance various models with motorcycle paint. The latest factory paint job offered by Harley-Davidson is called Apex.
The Apex factory color is inspired by the Harley-Davidson XR750 straight track racer and is available as an option on select Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring models. The paint is not only for the fuel tank, it also includes fairings, side covers and side frames.

Glossy black is used as a base. From here, the Gauntlet Gray graphics panel was added; each panel has an internal drop shadow and an interesting bar and shield pattern that continues to fade towards the lid, tank and side case. Bars and fade shields come from a current Harley-Davidson factory kit motorcycle. Next is the jet flame orange accent strip. Harley-Davidson racing fans recognize Jet Fire Orange as the color of the XR750.

In this week’s first episode, senior editor Nick De Sena takes a look at the Ducati Desert XV motorcycle. Powered by the same liquid-cooled V-twin engine as other models in the Ducati lineup, the Desert is another entry in the upper mid-range class of ADV machines. The question, of course, is can DesertX make its mark and differentiate itself from a growing field of competitors?

The second episode is the premiere of our new series ‘Owner Comment’. This is a real-world view of the machine that each user owns. For the first one, I’m chatting with my friend Dale Wagler. Harley-Davidson has revealed a new factory-installed paint scheme for the 2020 Road Glide Special, which the motoring company calls Eagle Eye Yellow Special Edition paint.
This new paint option is only available on the Road Glide Special and is highlighted by an eagle that covers the right side of the gas tank and extends over the Sarknose trim.
Harley-Davidson says the factory setup gives customers an accessible custom painting option that eliminates the need to repaint original components or install accessory paint kits that leave painted parts in the shop.

“Eagle Eye Special Edition paint options meet Harley-Davidson standards for finish quality and durability and are backed by the Harley-Davidson Limited Warranty,” said Harley.
Eagle Eye paint has a yellow color applied to the fuel tank, front and rear fenders, panniers and side fairing with a glossy clear coat.
Harley also features a Bar & Shield logo on the left side of the tank and branding on the outer edge of each saddlebag cover.
The base price of the 2020 Road Glide Special model with the Eagle Eye Special Edition paint option is $29,294, which is $1,495 off the standard monochrome base price.
