Hex Color Code To Pantone – I gave up and decided to find out for myself. I’ve read various blog posts about this (like the Wedding Bee message boards) and people have mentioned the same problem.
In fact, there is no perfect match between Pantone and the beautiful set of Paper Source colors. Color matching has been, and always will be, a complex and subjective process. However, I have done my best to put together a color guide that can serve as a starting point for your research. (I say “starting point” because that’s exactly what it should be. Start with the combination I suggest, then adjust to fit your printer, paper, and screen.)
Hex Color Code To Pantone
In the 8.5 x 11 inch print guide, I listed the color name of the paper source, along with the corresponding RGB, Hex/HTML, CMYK, and Pantone numbers.
The Difference Between Hexadecimal And Pantone Colors
To create the guide, I opened all the windows and let in as much natural light as possible. I then used the latest Paper Source color and shape guide to match Pantone Color Bridge Uncoated, Pantone Metallics Coated and Pantone Pastels Uncoatedwatches. Some colors didn’t really “match” so I matched them with the closest thing I could find. Remember that the less color you use, the closer it will look to the original paper. In other words, if you print thin color text on a white invitation and put it in a matching envelope, people are unlikely to notice that they are not the same color. However, if you choose to block your entire Clover order, chances are it will look different next to the Clover envelope.
UPDATE :: Thanks to Kelly’s comment below, I was able to get the paper source conversion chart for Pantones and CMYK. Two years later, in 2016, I finally found the time to combine my 2014 guide with the official guide. Pantone colors were originally intended to help designers define and manage colors for projects to be published in print. The mentioned color system is very convenient for this, as it allows you to specify colors that normally cannot be mixed based on CMYK.
But these days, the digital world is merging with the physical world more than ever, and most of our projects cross that fine line. Accurately printing Pantone colors has become as important as displaying them digitally. However, it can be difficult to find the correct Pantone color if you only have the color’s HEX code as a reference. For your convenience, we have created this mapping tool, specially designed for the previous task. On this page you can easily convert HEX colors to some of the most common Pantone charts using the input form below.
Getting matching Pantone color speeds for all HEX colors has never been easier. Just enter your clean HEX code (omit the hash tag) and hit the convert button. The color conversion tool will process the code you entered and take you to the conversion result page in a few seconds. This transformation is of course included

No more manual color conversion! No paid apps on your phone and no registration required! Using the tools on our website, you can easily find the right color for your project without having to look through color pages or spend hours converting.
The Pantone conversion tool is easy to use and provides accurate results. It also allows you to choose between different shades of each color, so you can choose exactly the one that suits your design project. This color’s complement will be #267fd3, the perceived brightness of this color is 138/255, and the grayscale version is #8B8B8B.
In the RGB color space, a hex is 82.7% red, 47.5% green, and 14.9% blue. While the CMYK color space consists of 0% cyan, 43% magenta, 82% yellow and 17% black. It has a hue angle of 29 degrees, 69% saturation and 49% brightness.

There are about 140 standard HTML color codes (names), but it was found that monitors could display up to 256 colors in the early days. Thanks to the latest technology, thousands of colors can now be displayed, creating selective and highly detailed color palettes for digital use.
How To Use Pantone’s 2023 Color Of The Year: Viva Magenta
The most popular are hexadecimal color codes; Hexadecimal numbers of three bytes* (meaning they consist of six digits), where each byte or pair of characters in the hex code represents the intensity of red, green and blue respectively. So in pairs we see #XX XX XX , where the first pair is red, the second pair is green and the last pair is blue.
Hexadecimal codes are a more compact way to interact with applications on websites or even in your own application, such as specifying the correct mark color in Microsoft Word.
Hexcode byte values range from 00, the lowest color intensity, to FF, which represents the highest color intensity. For example, white is achieved by mixing each of the three primary colors to full strength, resulting in the hexadecimal color code #FFFFFF.
Black, the absence of any color on the screen, is the opposite, each color is displayed at the lowest possible intensity and hex color code #000000.
Hex To Pantone Conversion
By understanding the basics of hex color code notation, I can easily create shades of gray as they consist of equal intensities of each color. So charcoal gray is #454545 and pewter gray is #999999.
The three primary colors, red, green and blue, are created by mixing the highest intensity of the desired color with the lowest intensity of the other two:
RGB or Red Green Blue is a numerical value for colors based on the percentage of these three colors to achieve the desired combination. With RGB color coding in CSS, it’s easier for me to control the device’s color conversion and it’s easy to add instructions about the percentage of opacity to display. Values range from 0 to a maximum of 255.
RGB color codes are sometimes referred to as RGBA color codes if they include an additional value for the alpha channel. This is one of the most popular ways to set colors on web pages. They are written as follows:

As mentioned above, it is possible to encode RGBA or three channels representing red, green and blue with a fourth alpha channel. Alpha specifies how opaque each pixel is and allows you to overlay the image onto others using alpha compositing, with transparent areas and smoothing the edges of opaque areas.
HSL stands for Hue, Saturation and Lightness. HSLA color values are an extension of HSL with an alpha channel (opacity) – this is similar to the expression used for alpha channel with RGBA codes. Formats such as RGB and Hex are more machine-readable than human-readable. HSL, on the other hand, is designed to be easier for people to understand. HSL is a newer and more spontaneous way of working with colour. Also visible is HSV (hue, saturation, value; also known as HSB, hue, saturation, lightness). These codes were developed as alternative representations of the RGB color model, which was developed in the 1970s by computer graphics researchers to better match how human vision perceives color rendering properties.
The print area uses the CMYK color code. CMYK is represented as 4 codes, each representing a percentage of the color used. The primary colors for subtractive synthesis are cyan, magenta, and yellow, and the fourth is black.
Printers use CMYK codes to ensure accurate ink matching. For example, Cerulean Blue has a CMYK formula (94%, 32%, 0%, 9%) that corresponds to 94% cyan, 32% magenta, 0% yellow, and 9% black.

It is also important that images, and sometimes even created documents, are produced in a specific color space. High-resolution images are often set in the CMYK color space and must be converted to the RGB color space for websites or digital documents.
