We’re breaking dots left, right and center here… what can they say?
Ever since we moved here, I’ve wanted to have a welcoming, welcoming space that we can enjoy and use for hospitality, and it’s disappointing to hear that I’ve given up on something that was from me very much. But the great benefit of our difficult space is that it teaches me to let go a little and celebrate progress towards perfection.

The only job we’ve managed to tackle on this list (at least for this year) is cleaning moldy brickwork. This is unique – old Chicago brick – I was delighted when we chose our entryway and porch. Although they are “old bricks” as my husband lovingly calls them, they are in high demand and therefore more expensive than new bricks. My husband has always wanted paddles, but I saw these bricks on Pinterest and there was nothing he could do. I finally broke down and convinced him to use the extra money because he was so good and I had no choice.

We’ve now doubled our driveway and patio, and I’ve picked up a few tips and hacks that will make the task easier to tackle. So, for anyone who is a little intimidated or intimidated by the process (like me at first), I thought I’d share some tips to help you get started. the hard way

All this thanks to my neighbor. After I started the job I was pushed to my knees and told I had to stay straight or my back would hurt. Such wisdom! Get in good shape and you’ll feel better the next day.
I use a non-bleach washer and spray it all over to help loosen the container before I go in with a high pressure bomb. It does not take much time to use and helps to remove stubborn mildew stains.
I found the task much easier when I started doing it again. I used an “S” pattern to clean each brick, going apart in sections. It helps you focus and ignore everything around you (and everyone else). Get in the zone and you’ll be surprised how well you do.

Put on some headphones and listen to some beat music or podcasts. Trust me, you’ll have plenty of time to kill. It makes work more fun and takes your mind off what’s left to do!
I split our work into three parts over three days to narrow it down a bit. After cleaning, my husband sandblasted each part and sanded the joints with fresh sand to remove what I blasted and cleaned. By working together dreams come true!
