The only thing we had to decide on was the color of the vanity – more specifically, we had to choose between “white” and “white marble”. The “white” vanity is the typical IKEA white color – not really white and more glossy. The “white pearl” type looks like true white and has a smooth surface. It’s a bit transparent because you can see the grain of the wood towards the end, but it’s barely noticeable.

In our opinion, white spots look superior and natural. We didn’t mind the brightness of the store as we liked the more rustic look. It really comes down to personal preference, but we’ve settled on a white spot.
As with any IKEA furniture, it can be a little intimidating at first. Our advice is to organize everything to ensure you take the right amount of parts (including tools and fasteners) with you. The dresser has 3 separate boxes:
It took us about 2 hours to assemble. There were a few confusing steps, but we finally figured it out. It’s best to take the time to get it right so you don’t have to go back and do something else.
We didn’t build the button holes because we plan to use different buttons from Hobby Lobby to customize the dresser. We have shortened the two types – stars and handles (the original knob that comes with the dresser is on the left):

Nader decided to draw stars and Mel decided to draw them, but in the end we went with a more funky star draw. We waited until it was 50% off and bought 12 new items:
To spray paint, Mel punched holes in a piece of cardboard and screwed the pull handles in. We used spray paint from the garage – Rustolum Oil Bronze:
FYI: We had to use a small box cutter to cut the screws that came with the star pulls because they are long and very long inside the pull.
Another nice detail is the stripe pattern at the bottom of the drawer – you can see it via the SKUBB organizer:
