Indesign Convert Rgb To Cmyk – As designers, we consider color in every project we create. To ensure the best color representation in our designs, we need to choose the right color mode before starting the final product. We’ve broken down the key differences between CMYK and RGB, and in this post we’ll discuss how to use each color mode and how to set up an RGB or CMYK document in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and inDesign.
Although Adobe software has the ability to convert files from RGB to CMYK, it’s best to start in CMYK for digital and print designs and then save the file as RGB for the web. This is because RGB colors are too bright to reproduce with CMYK inks, resulting in dull results on paper. If the end result of the project is on a computer monitor, such as a banner ad on a website, RGB is the way to go. If the piece is to be printed, CMYK is the best choice.

2. If you select Print in the new document box, the color mode is automatically set to CMYK. If you select Web or Mobile, the color mode is automatically set to RGB. Adobe suggests choosing one of 3 types before creating your document
3. After creating a new file, go to Document Configuration to change the document type. Changing the document type changes the color mode depending on the option you choose

After printing, I got unusual shades of gray. Now I know I should only use the K value for CMYK to avoid this and get a pure gray color.
But I wonder why when I put C0 M0 Y0 K5 in InDesign, I get the values R241 G242 B242, but when I put R241 G242 B242, I get C4 M2 Y3 K0. If so, do I go back to dirty gray?

If you don’t have a profile to convert a specific RGB layer to a K channel, you always divide “black” into all CMYK.
In general, if you want to use grayscale, it’s wise to add it to the CMYK space.
Note: a) printers add color to all channels and b) sometimes (usually) printers are set to add color to a different plate to compensate for RIP. For example, for the last 7 years I have been working on a printer with 10% extra on PC M. So it must be associated with a “special” color, which must be K only.
