The first step in transforming your kitchen the DIY way is choosing the right color. As you read in my first post on this series, I chose to use Magnolia Home Trim-Cabinetry paint in Shiplap. The Magnolia color is a KILZ product so the best and I’m so glad I went with this brand. The gloss finish is semi-gloss which is great for lasting and polishing my son’s pen (and feet, if we’re being honest here).
Whatever you choose to use, I recommend semi-gloss. For those who choose chalk paint, make sure you print it well for durability. Also, be sure to choose a good primer if you cover wood to bind in tannin. It would be a sad day if in the spring your white cabinets start to turn yellow from tannin leaching.
