Light Greige Paint Color Behr – When some people choose neutral colors, they feel that beige looks too patchy and gray is less trendy.
Gray is a beautiful mix of gray and beige, a welcoming neutral that feels more modern than beige, which is often overused and too pale, and less industrial than gray, which tends to feel cold. Can do.

I’ve been using gray in my interior design work with Barbara Gilbert Interiors for years, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
The Best Whole House Paint Colors (2022)
But finding the right gray takes a bit of work—with color requirements, I’d love to see an eco-friendly, low-VOC paint. This is especially important when painting indoors, where toxic fumes can be dangerous to your family and pets (and last for months!).
Here are my picks for the seven best gray colors for your home. (Be sure to look for a low- or no-VOC formula—most companies now offer that option.)
Drop Cloth by Farrow & Ball: As the folks at Farrow & Ball explain, the drop cloth is a deep combination of shaded white and shadow white, the warmest of the group to complete a three-tone look that works in any style. Acts as a strong colour. The house has been given a classy look. It does not read too pale or too grey, making it the perfect color for those who are fashion conscious about gray and avoid overly creamy tones. All Farrow & Ball paints have zero or low VOCs.
Steel Me by PPG Paints: This color is part of the red family and has a touch of rose in the beige/gray mix. It has a creamy, soft feel and is perfect for rooms with red decor – it will enhance those colors and make the whole room feel cohesive and cohesive. Their Wonder-Pure interior paint is VOC free and low fume.

I was on a mission to match the lighting to the look and feel of my living room and set out to find the perfect gray for this space. Lucky for me, I have a great group of home decor enthusiasts (you guys!) who are more than willing to share your favorite gray shades! I asked what you liked on Instagram and Instagram Stories and gathered over 500 responses to come up with the ten best gray shades — here are the ones many have used, loved, and recommended to others.
Before I dive into these ten favorite gray shades, I want to offer a few words of caution—the same color in your home won’t necessarily look the same as someone else’s. The amount of light, the direction of your room, and the color of the furniture in the room can have a big impact on how it looks, and it’s best to swatch your color rather than figure it out when you paint. all rooms. I recommend that you take paint samples of your finalists so you can see how each will look in the room you’ll be painting.
I used to sample paint by taking small pints of each sample and painting them. They’re on the wall or on a poster, but since I wrote this article, I have a go-to sample that you can buy. These are peel and stick patterns of real color, with them rolled on, so the color is more accurate than a printed pattern like you’d find in color palettes. And it’s less work than painting the walls yourself. I love that you can put patterns in different parts of your room and how easy it is to compare patterns.
Greige Paint: How To Choose The Right One For Your Home
I usually narrow it down to 3-4 favorite shades as examples, but for this post I have picked nine out of ten of my favorites (all apart from light browns) to share with you! It’s crazy that all ten colors are so different from each other (FYI I think this represents the actual color rather than separating it):
I’m a fan of the New Gray and this is one of the finalists for our living room. This is a very warm mid-tone gray with the most depth of any gray on this list. If you’re looking for a gray that’s rich in color without being too dark, this might be just the thing for you. And in my space that often hears strange noises, the new gray pattern I put on the wall isn’t surprising at all. A wonderful example of the new gray is Mandy from Country Dog Homes:
You can see Mandy’s Fixer Upper in Nashville by following her on Instagram at @country_dog_homes. And you can get samples of the new grey.
After all the gray examples in this post, I chose the new gray for my space:

Behr Wheat Bread is one of those new gray shades that you’ve already used and loved! I’m not surprised that it has the same LRV as Revere Pewter since the two colors are nearly identical in color intensity, but Behr Wheat Bread definitely leans more toward the beige side than Revere Pewter. I love it in this shabby chic home decor room from Sara Melito:
Revere Pewter was voted #1 Best Gray by readers, and it’s my favorite too. No one paints a “safe” color, but Revere Pewter comes the closest to looking great.

Any channel. A few years back, when my sister called me in shock that her painter was there and didn’t like the color she’d chosen for her living room, Revere Pewter was the color I suggested because she had it. . Alpaca is more gray than beige and can throw off a purple undertone in some places (which is exactly what happened when I swatched in my living room). but it worked beautifully
