Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paint Review – Choosing the best brand of acrylic paint can be difficult because there are so many options. I reviewed 5 popular brands of affordable student grade acrylic paint. Through my tests, I have determined which brand of acrylic paint is best for beginners.

Liquitex Basics is the cheapest acrylic paint for beginners. It has excellent coverage, light pigments and many monopigmented shades. It’s a great choice to use with artist grade acrylic paint or just for yourself as a beginner. A better alternative is Daler Rowney System 3 acrylic paint.

I experimented a lot with colors on canvas to determine the best acrylic paint. I used red colors for this; Liquitex Basics pyrrole red (PR254, opaque), Winsor and Newton Galeria cadmium red (PR112, translucent), system 3 acrylic cadmium red (PR112, semi-transparent), acrylic cadmium red (PR112, semi-transparent), cadmium acrylic Pebeo red color (PR112 + PR22 + PW6, opaque).

Although it is more expensive than other brands of Liquitex Basic acrylic paint, it is not the same in quality. So Liquitex Basics is the best acrylic paint for the least money.

I have written personal reviews about these colors in detail. Below are links to those reviews. They will help you identify your best acrylic paints.

Liquitex Basics is a high viscosity, thick paint. Winsor and Newton acrylic paints have a fluid structure. The consistency is creamy and not dry. System 3 acrylic paint has a medium thickness or medium body viscosity. It does not feel flexible, but it can hold shape to some degree.

Several brands of acrylic paint, such as Liquitex Basics, System 3 acrylic paint, and Winsor and Newton Galeria paint, can retain texture and brushability after drying. That’s why it’s better to create different textures and techniques like impasto.

The scale I gave to each acrylic paint according to its consistency (5 = excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = bad, 1 = worst) is as follows; Liquitex Foundation-5, System 3 acrylic-4, Pebeo acrylic-4, Winsor and Newton Galeria-3, progressive acrylic paint-3. Application

All 5 acrylic paint brands had good paint usage. All paint applications are thick and smooth. However, some paint applications are very thin. Graduate Daler Rowney applied acrylic paint, Winsor and Newton Galeria fine paint. The other 3 paint brands have thicker applications as well as paint.

Insulation is important in floor construction. It is important when you paint details. The most beautiful appearance of the paint is from the vibrant and saturated colors, it is easier to work with that paint.

The level of coverage I gave to each acrylic paint (5 = excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = bad, 1 = worst) is as follows; Liquitex Foundation-5, System 3 acrylic-4, Pebeo acrylic-4, Winsor and Newton Gallery-3, graduated acrylic paint-2. Disadvantages

Acuity refers to how well you can see in color. It is the same measure as intake. Consistency or coverage is important when creating layers in an image, especially when you want to hide an area underneath.

What Are The Best Acrylic Paints?

Again, Liquitex Basics has the best opacity, followed by System 3 acrylic paint and Pebeo acrylic paint. Winsor and Newton and Graduate acrylic paints are less opaque.

The reason I prefer translucent colors over paint brands other than Liquitex Basics is because others don’t have a dull red color like pyrrole red. Most colors of the remaining acrylic paint brands are semi-solid or solid colors.

Almost all Winsor and Newton Galeria colors are translucent or transparent. Winsor and Newton Galeria has few opaque single color shades available. Most graduate acrylic paints are clear and translucent.

I usually choose single-pigment reds because they are the best for highly pigmented colors. Most Daler Rowney acrylic paints and Pebeo acrylic paints have a mixture of color and few strong opaque colors.

The finish is what the acrylic paint will look like after it dries. It can be matte, satin or glossy. The Liquitex Basics and Pebeo acrylic paint I tested have a matte finish. This can be different for different colors of the same brand. Other brands have statin coating, Galeria acrylic, System 3 acrylic and grade acrylic paint.

Some brands have a curved edge, while others have a smooth surface. Liquitex Basics, System 3 acrylic paint and Pebeo acrylic paint, leveled acrylic paint has a smooth surface without leaving marks. However, Winsor and Newton Galeria acrylic paints have a thin but generally smooth surface.

The lines of Galeria acrylic paint can be reduced by applying several thin coats after it has dried between coats.
